With the recent episodes, it seems a given that Saru's going to bite the dust regardless of whether he succeeds trapping Orochimaru. This presents an interesting void in Konoha's leadership.

I can't think of a single character who seems gravitated towards this role. Jiyaira is legendary enough, but serious leadership isn't his thing. Even the ANBU captain was amazed at the Hokage's jutsu, suggesting that legendary ninja or Sannin are the only ones who can fill those shoes.
