Something I've noticed while downloading things from gotwoot is that the fonts keep changing. This isn't such a bad thing until they become hard to read. This is pretty much an issue when encoding for VCD. The first 64 episodes of Naruto were a strain on my eyes. They were almost transparent and a little too thin. Macross Zero also gives me problems because the font is too small. Gunslinger Girl is too thn and squished together. I think the only one's that gave me no trouble after encoding were Gungrave, Naruto (episode 65 forward), and ROD TV. I think I listed everyting I downloaded. Oh, FFVII: Advent Children. Maybe a little bolder, and it'd be near perfect.

Now, don't get me wrong, they are fine when I watch them on my computer without encoding, but I like being able to watch them on the TV (bigger screen and all). But I also want to be able to read the subtitles. The picture quality is always great on AonE and ANBU fansubs, for which I am eternally grateful. I have a fansub of End of Evangelion from the late 90s, and man the picture quality sucks bad, but I can still read the subtitles. Now maybe the people who choose the fonts don't consider what the fonts do when the episodes are encoded with borders for 352x240 VCDs. I don't know. I just thought it'd be nice if maybe fansubbers could consider readability a little more than they consider stylishness?
