    i think its when you use your idle computer power to help the SETI guys look for aliens and things. It hooks up computers together and uses their power to add to theirs.

    I've done it before, I was a bit sceptical at first, but looking at their sponsors gave me some confidence... I mean, the page is fairly well known, and also on the berkeley website, so it would be hard to lie about their sponsors without getting a lawsuit thrown at them.

    It's just using up your unused CPU cycles. What're you losing? Personally, I prefer the folding@home group, which uses those cycles to help cure diseases. Find out more here.

    yeh, various groups have programs that do this, either one is a good choice to give something back
