Spiegel, the more stuff you make, the better you'll get!

I like the colours and the text on your sig, but I think you need to work on the composition. Your sig should have one primary point of focus, and you should try to arrange the elements of your sig to reflect that. With your current one, your eye is drawn to the two far edges, since your renders are placed so far out. When using two renders like that, you can either place them close enough together so that your eye perceives them as one object, make one primary and the other secondary, or highlight something else in your sig as primary. A good example of the third one is Psyke's current Death Note sig, where the text jumps out, and the images spread outwards from that centre focal point, and there is also some space on the edges so that it doesn't seem too crowded or unbalanced.

This'll probably be my new sig once I get the kinks worked out of it.

    R.I.P Captain America.

You got yourself an interesting style there, I like it.

Here is my latest, nothing spectacular.

  5. #4905
Very nice! The sharpness of the render fits really well.

  6. #4906
Nice, xDM. A little flat for my tastes, but very nice.

I used roughly the same technique in each of these sigs; I wanted there to be some kind continuity between them. They were relatively easy to make, each about twenty layers and twenty minutes. I like the outcome of Leo and Dragon, though Pegasus was a little hard to work with. I hope you guys like 'em.
Feel free to c&c, though I'm probably not going to work anymore on these.

Still working out all the fun things about photoshop, But everything i make still seems lacking. Maybe I just have not found the right style for me but either way, here is what I did today.

This first one is an edit of a previous one:

This second one is one I made just today:

I agree, I was trying to make the colors pop a bit more, but it didn't go too well. The BG could also be spiced up a bit. I like the render so if I have time I might give it another go.

Spiegel - You are really getting better. Don't worry about making an amazing sig and just enjoy it. Sooner or later you will make something that you can feel proud of.

Spi - Much better. Only problem with the first one is the stock in the background; in the middle, there's some little low quality lines from what looks like compression, probably since it was in jpeg format when you first found it I'm guessing. Try duplicating it, gaussian blurring it at like two, desaturating it, and setting it to soft light or something. I don't know if it'll work, but try something like that. I'm going off of the top of my head.

xDM - New layer, apply image, and overlay might work some magic. It's what I usually do when a sig needs a little something more. Gaussian blur never hurt either. It's a really nice sig anyway though.

That aside, I made a new header for my galleries.

I needed a good focal point, so I stuck some c4ds on the hand. I only have about thirty to forty renders right now, so I didn't have anything real good to work with. I love it anyway.

    To master_me:
I fooled around with it a little and what I did to the background on this version was New layer with Gaussian Blur at 2 like you said (i didn't desaturate) then I did the watercolor filter (experimenting with filters) and set to soft light.

I disagree. That "technique" is overused and not everything needs to have super-high contrast. It looks fine the way it is.

Spiegel, that's looking much better! There's still something that bothers me about the first sig, but I think it has to do with the horizontal lines. I like the Kiba one. I've always been a fan of smooth and clean-looking sigs.

Zinobi, in the first one there, it's really hard to see the render and tell what it is. Maybe you were trying to achieve that sort of amalgam of render and bg, but if so, maybe use some lighting effects to highlight her face, or otherwise draw attention to something distinguishable.

Snap Spiegel! You definatly got talent. Keep making more and more, you'll just get more experienced and i'm sure you'll start ripping out top class sigs in no time.

    Nice second sig.

I finally made a sig to fit the forums. It's not that advanced of a creation, but I still think it's a great product. It was quick and easy, and it does what it needs to do.

By the way, MSD is a band (local, from where I'm from), and Stormcrow is their new CD that was released on Feb. 2nd, 2007. A link to their site is below, should you wish to check.

I have some other projects I'm working on in Photoshop. I've been experimenting with different techniques... which is why I've been away for awhile. I haven't finished anything else yet that I'm satisfied with. Hopefully soon...

It's dangerous to go alone. Take Nep.
