The first one's better. The second one looks tacky and artificial.

Official Gotwoot Announcement: After some discussion, we've decided that the maximum dimension for signatures would be 500x150 pxls, while avatars would be 150x150 pxls. Future sigs will have to comply with that rule, but I'm going leave existing sigs be (until further notice. ).

It's good that there is a limit now, but it would be really great if the height limit could be pushed to the current favorite of 200px.

The recent work with banners got me motivated to make another tag. I tried to incorporate a lot of new styles and effects that I learned while working on the banners. It may seem similar to my current style, but there are a lot of subtle things underneath.

Anyways, I made two versions, one with text and one without. I'm leaning towards the version without because that's what I'm used to making, but I really wanted to start including my name again. Maybe some ideas will help.

    I love it.

The light blue faded lines.... is that from a particular brush? Cause I likes.

I get the feeling that the sig with words draws the focus point slightly towards the left (essentially where her mouth/hand is), while my eyes drift to a more comfortable position in the wordless version.

I think I'm going to try and rework the text anyways. I feel like it stands out too much and it's just... bland. I think the placement is pretty good though. Anyways, I'm looking at a couple new text guides so we'll go from there. I'm using the textless version on another forum.

The "blue lines" is just a resource image I found somewhere and used. Changed size, opacity, color, etc. though. I've long since stopped using brushes. I never had much luck with them honestly. Maybe I should try 'em again, but they'd have to be really good.

    New set.

I took a step back technique-wise to create something simple. I really wanted an Asuka set in honor of 3.33, but after searching for days, I only found a select few high-quality sources. Everything else was either crude representations, or porn. I didn't think it would be so hard to find sources of the best Eva character ever, but hopefully this works for me.

That's pretty cool. It's a shame that the avatar doesn't have her looking directly at us, but not much you can do about that given the limited material you have to work with.

I do like the colours in the sig.

You watched 3.33 and decided to make an Asuka sig? Do you hate Shinji or are you a masochist?

I like the avatar, but the sig feels a little empty.

I like the simplicity of the sig, don't like how the avatar features the same character with such a different style and color scheme.

I think it would look great solo, i'd ditch the avatar completely.

Who doesn't hate Shinji? Hell after that movie i don't think there's a single likeable character left.

Actually I've wanted an Asuka set for a long time; the release of 3.33 just motivated me to make one.

But yes, I hate Shinji. And I might be a masochist. Maybe.

I tried to make the avatar color scheme match the tag, but no matter what I did it didn't look right. This was the closest I could get. The tag is supposed to feel empty. It conveys how empty and alone the world is for her.

If I can make something better I will, but I've been searching for material since last Saturday and come up with a whole lot of nothing.

Double post for new tag. First time I've tried a vertical style. I'm pretty happy with the atmosphere and colors, but I still feel like it's missing something, and I don't know what. I'm also not sure if the 2px black line looks better on top/bottom or on the sides (I tried both and went with this for the post, but I still have the other layer in PS).

Well if there's something that could be wrong with it, I think it's the lack of a clear focus which ends up making the vertical set look like a picture from a bigger scene rather than a piece of art in its own right. The focus is neither Homura nor Madoka, and Madoka seems to be looking towards the light source (so should we?).

Unfortunately the render itself was cut like that (Madoka's head missing). The only reason I went vertical was to include both Madoka and Homura, but I wasn't really sure where the focus needed to be. I was actually going for more of a "scene" like you mentioned, though not necessarily cut from something bigger. I just thought it was too beautiful of a render to not be used.

Is the upper left corner clear in the original? I think it would be better not to blur/blend that part. Since her upper arm is clear, the head part should be as well. It is kind of odd that the parts further away from the viewer are clearer than the closer ones.

Well, it's about that time again.

I've been experimenting outside of my comfort zone, and I came up with a lot of failed creations, but I think this one turned out fairly well. I also think I've gotten much better with text, though I want to find a better font for my name.

As always, critiques are encouraged. I get better ideas from you guys than any graphics site I try posting to.

Also, I know it's incredibly late, but I like the Hec set Arch... I just think it would be better if they matched.

The only thing I can critique on is that "ALHUIN" is a little hard to read there. Is it because the bottom part is shadowed? It's not a biggie and doesn't really take anything away from the sig, so you don't have to change it.

There is a gradient effect on the text, and it used to be much darker... I tried making it lighter without removing the gradient, and that's the best I could come up with. I'm fairly certain it's mostly because of the font. I didn't want to use the same font as "Deadpool", but I still think a thicker font would work best, and allow the colors to stand out more. I'll probably scour dafont.com for a couple of hours tomorrow.

There's also a slight outer-glow effect, to make the text pop out. I could try removing that and see if it helps.

    The text is fine.
