thankya kind ser. Calvin and Hobbes were a big part of my young life and I think anyone who read it so endearingly as much as I did and laughed so hard at the jokes, and spending time understanding some subtleties that some other jokes had, would feel a lasting impact on their sense of humor. Definitely the most inspiring comic strip there ever was or will be.

Thanks dude. I gave her some ideas to work with, like those japanese flag-rays coming out of it and the calligraphy image for the word "samurai". It's supposed to correspond with the other wallpapers present in the Calligraphy theme I posted in the Desktop Thread. Except this may be the only one in Japanese.

Samurai is a little hard to read though, i'd probably add a very light stroke around the font.

New set, with a very similar theme to the previous one. It is so similar in fact, that I did not even need to change the sig text.

Yeah, the avatar image doesn't even really look like Iri. I thought it was like Nunnally or something. It's not just the hair color, her face isn't the right shape like it is in the sig.
The sig is good though.

Make the horizontal lines more translucid and have them fading to the left, i think it will help with that awful contrast between render and background.

That one i just flat out dislike.
The focus is all over the place, the render on the right seems too sharp and the piece of background to the left doesn't go with the rest of the sig at all.
It's supposed to imply that she is running to him. In all fairness though, the background had the guy already, I just tried to incorporate it for effect. The girl is the only render, but I had to do some shading to get it to blend. The focus should just be the blue... don't ask the symbolism between blue eyes and a blue umbrella, but I thought it looked cool regardless. I actually think I like this one better than my first one, even though I do really like that render.

Seemed more to me like she stopped to look back at whatever they were both noticing.
You could try making the shadow that the umbrella is casting on him a whole lot darker, would make the "scene" more interesting I think.
Or you could just remove the girl.
Would blurring the dude make it any better? If he's in the distance and the girl's in the foreground, then having some depth perception via a slight loss of focus there would enhance that feel.
The problem with the dude is that he stands out too much, and a bit contributor to that is that there's no "rain" in front of him.
