Upload your avatar, and make sure that you check the box that says "Set as default" or something BEFORE you click upload.

Okay, if you are getting the error at http://avatars.gotwoot.net where it returns you to the same page, you are entering the wrong password (or it thinks you are).
Try entering your original password (the one you received in the email) - it worked for me.

Question, WHERE, aside from this thread, does it say to go to avatars.gotwoot.net in order to change your avatar? I was trying the profile link at the top of the page, but that's not right...

It doesn't work for me, I click the circle and delete some image thats up already, it says it's deleted and it's still there....
go to that page...
click delete. (it should tell you that you have 0/1 avatars).
click upload avatar.
check "set as current avatar."
upload avatar.
click "upload."
done.
