Yeah I'm stealing Insomniac's thunder. And thanks to Insomniac people have learned to stay away from some really funky animes. Hopefully we can post animes that other people might enjoy. I know there are hundreds of good animes, so try to keep the lists relatively short. And yes, we all now Naruto rocks

I'm pretty fresh to the anime scene, so here are my few pics:

Interesting Futuristic Concept: Ghost in the Shell
Sad Sad Stories: The Grave of the Fireflies, The Wolf Brigade
Light Hearted and Different: Love Hina
Best Soap Opera: DragonBall Z
Just Fun Stuff: Cowbow Bebop

Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't it called "Grave" of the fireflies? Maybe there is another anime with almost the same name though

oh.

Gloomy, melodramatic and sad anime (depth): Grave of the fireflies and the best "Now And Then Here And There".

Action, drama, sad and depth: Noir.

Funny, sad, drama and depth: Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun and GTO.

Rest of my favorites: Vandread, FLCL, Naruto, Full metal Panic and Fumoffu and also some other animes.

Well, one worth mentioning is Wolf's Rain, like it a lot and want to see the end.

Geez Shinji, It's the most adorable OVA ever created, Rurouni Kenshin OVA1 reminisence, christ! and you seem to be a kenshin fan, shame on you!

ah the list here's my favourites

Rurouni Kenshin TV
Rurouni Kenshin OVA 1
Peace Maker Kurogane
Naruto
Berserk
Samurai Deeper Kyo

There are a heck of a lot of anime that I've seen, so I'm using my ratings list over at www.animenfo.com to help me list the best. I'm not gonna take the time to go through all hundred eleven, I'm just listing the ones I've rated the highest.

Princess Mononoke
Naruto
Hajime no Ippo
Ninja Scroll
Akira
Record of Lodoss War OVA
One Piece
Samurai X - Trust and Betrayal (1st two OVA sets)
Cowboy Bebop
Dragon-Half

I don't have the last one ranked high, but its definetly one of my favorites. My friends from freshman year get together each summer for a couple of days and we always watch that anime sometime during the time.

Pretty much agree with everything said so far except samurai deeper kyo.

Has anyone seen Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust?
I dunno, i guess thats one of my favorite animes. Also anything made by Miyazaki.

I saw bloodlust, thats a great movie! I really enjoyed the animation and story, although the voice acting was not so hot =_= BTW, they made a playstation game based on that movie, it's pretty cool too!

10. #10
Actually, I think that the voice acting was pretty good... and i hate english voices in anime...

It is indeed one of the best movies out there... I also enjoyed the first movie... but Bloodlust is in a league of its own

11. #11
Don't you agreed with that, that Rurouni Kenshin OVA 1 is the best ever, not to speak about the music, it's wonderful, have you heard 'In Memories'?

no one here likes hunter x hunter?

i like it =)

The anime series that i've enjoyed so far are (recent ones I've watched and i tried to keep it to completed series wit few exeptions):

Hajime no Ippo
Condor Hero
Grappler Baki (specially the first series)
Berserk
Rahxephon
Blue Gender
Witch Hunter Robin
Full Metal Panic!
Ghost in the Shell (all of it)
Inuyasha (admit it, it is awesome)

There are plenty more that belong in this group, but these are the most recent ones I've been watching so they are pretty fresh in my mind

Samurai Deeper Kyo has a really good intro-song... and it's good, though not so much blood

I think out of every series I've watched, the one that stands out more than any other in my mind for sheer enjoyment of watching was Azumanga Daioh. I don't really understand why, myself. It's just .... really good!

Second place would be the Read or Die OVA and third would be the Cowboy Bebop Movie. Akira and GITS (movie) tie for fourth on my list -- because akira was one of my first (and how can you compete with a solar orbital laser?) and gits just had such an interesting plotline and nice shades of depth behind the technobabble.

But really it just depends on the mood I'm in.

Anything by Miyazaki. Seriously, that man is a freaking genius. Every one of his movies is wonderful, and his most recent ones, Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away (forgot the japanese title...) are easily the best animated movies of all time.

As for series... Scrapped Princess. Seriously, if you haven't tried it, do so now. Fantasy with a Sci-Fi twist at it's absolute best.
