Asuma-sensei

Ok, I've been thinking, and the other kick-ass, mysterious teacher besides Kakashi, but who is rarely discussed, is Asuma. There's lots we don't know about him:

1) His name is Sarutobi Asuma. The 3rd Hokage's name is Sarutobi. (However, we don't know if that's his first or last name. Orochimaru refers to him as Sarutobi-sensei, which makes me want to think it's his first name, since all the other genins call their senseis by their first name, i.e. Kakashi-sensei, Gai-sensei.) Is he the 3rd's son? Would that necessarily make him Konohamaru's father? We know that the 3rd had to have at least one child, since Konohamaru is revealed in canon as his grandson.

2) What special skills does he have? Is he another taijutsu specialist like Gai? I tend to think not, but the only thing we have seen him to is fight with his brass-knuckles/dagger thing. (Anybody know the term for this?) My feeling is that he can do at least some ninjutsu, as he can do kawarimi and the fact that ninjas that cannot do at least some ninjutsu and genjutsu are very rare.

I agree. he is actually my favorite sensei. he is so huge and strong and his brass knuckle thingy kicks ass. i dunno anything else other then i think he is the coolest. he has best personality

he isn't related to the 3rd hokage.
sarutobi is 3rd's first name.
and sarutobi is asuma's last name.
if konohamaru is his son, im sure they would have introduced that already.
im pretty sure he aint a taijutsu specialist. maybe hes good with brass knuckles. he basically SHATTERED that sound nin's face....... i cried for that sound nin. asuma's a crazy mofo.

The thing you gotta understand that all the main charector Jounins have something that makes them unique, Kakashi is the Copy Ninja (sharingan), Gai is super super super fast and skilled in not just taijustsu, Asuma is super big and strong and good with taijutsu, Kurenai....Kurenai...wears red???

Well thats the way i see things. Could be wrong though

Kurenai is a genjutsu specialist -- she works with illusions. I dunno, it doesn't make sense to have Asuma be only strong and good with taijutsu -- after all, Gai's already been established as the taijutsu specialist and with the 8 Celestial Gates, I don't think anybody could top him in close combat. Maybe Asuma's the balanced ninja. He's big and strong and good at all three: tai, nin and genjutsu, but superior in none, except for the previously mentioned fact of him being really big and strong.

Konohamaru doesn't have to be his son to be related, Asuma could be his uncle. Just a suggestion.

hm i think sarutobi is the hokages family name. You guys have to understand that young kids have little respect for their teachers. So they call them by their first names. Oro is older and he has respect for sandaime so he refers to him by his last name. Personally i would never refer to my Japanese teacher by her first name. That would be disrespectful. When i see an adult refer to their teacher by their first name then i'll be convinved that sarutobi is not hokages family name.

I wonder if any conversations would be starting about Asuma if he didn't just have a cool scene in a recent episode.......

hehe nah, he's pretty cool. I think he's just an average Jounin, nothing particularly special about him. He was just on a much higher level than all those sound guys, that's why he won so easily.

Asuma and Hayate are the disease experts, Hayate uses AIDS no jutsu on his enemies and Asuma uses Lung Cancer no jutsu.

kaksahi is still very fast too, because they said u have to be very fast to be able to use the chidori ....

And i thought all ninjas can do ninjutsu genjutsu just rock lee is very bad on it ;/ cause he has no talent ... so Asuma should have some special abilities not just the dagger nukkle thing

lol...Asuma is just a regular Joe who smokes too much.He get's his...mwaahhh.We should see Itachi in late April to early May.That's when we get to see Asuma in action roflmao.

I think you can't be a jounin if you are not expert in all fields of being a ninja. because if Hokage is the top ninja the only rank which comes after that is a jounin or "elite jounin" but i think they are sort of different like Ebisu. So keep all that in mind Asuma gotta to be alot stronger than what we have seen of him. He has got to know a summon, like Gai has the turtle(by the way what can a turtle do anyways lay eggs??? ) and Kakashi has Pakkun. and also Asuma smokes.....he is cool thats it...cough cough

Sarutobi is the Hokage's nick name bakas, as in 'Monkey'..because he looks like one, summons one, and even has the same voice as another character that is nick named Sarutobi, which would be the chief in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, actually the chief in all of the GITS is nick named Sarutobi too..He has the same hair cut as hokage without the hat lols, and has the same facial characteristics.. as in OLD MAN SARUTOBI! old monkey man, you'll understand later on silly people.
