Asuma-sensei

Ok, I've been thinking, and the other kick-ass, mysterious teacher besides Kakashi, but who is rarely discussed, is Asuma. There's lots we don't know about him:

1) His name is Sarutobi Asuma. The 3rd Hokage's name is Sarutobi. (However, we don't know if that's his first or last name. Orochimaru refers to him as Sarutobi-sensei, which makes me want to think it's his first name, since all the other genins call their senseis by their first name, i.e. Kakashi-sensei, Gai-sensei.) Is he the 3rd's son? Would that necessarily make him Konohamaru's father? We know that the 3rd had to have at least one child, since Konohamaru is revealed in canon as his grandson.

2) What special skills does he have? Is he another taijutsu specialist like Gai? I tend to think not, but the only thing we have seen him to is fight with his brass-knuckles/dagger thing. (Anybody know the term for this?) My feeling is that he can do at least some ninjutsu, as he can do kawarimi and the fact that ninjas that cannot do at least some ninjutsu and genjutsu are very rare.

I agree. he is actually my favorite sensei. he is so huge and strong and his brass knuckle thingy kicks ass. i dunno anything else other then i think he is the coolest. he has best personality he RULES GO ASUMA!!!!!!!!

sarutobi is 3rd's first name.
and sarutobi is asuma's last name.
if konohamaru is his son, im sure they would have introduced that already.
im pretty sure he aint a taijutsu specialist. maybe hes good with brass knuckles. he basically SHATTERED that sound nin's face....... i cried for that sound nin. asuma's a crazy mofo.

Kurenai is a genjutsu specialist -- she works with illusions. I dunno, it doesn't make sense to have Asuma be only strong and good with taijutsu -- after all, Gai's already been established as the taijutsu specialist and with the 8 Celestial Gates, I don't think anybody could top him in close combat. Maybe Asuma's the balanced ninja. He's big and strong and good at all three: tai, nin and genjutsu, but superior in none, except for the previously mentioned fact of him being really big and strong.

Konohamaru doesn't have to be his son to be related, Asuma could be his uncle. Just a suggestion.

anyway, on topic: asuma seems pretty good, and i agree with the balance idea...
as for relation to sarutobi....i betcha ...

3rd hokage had a son, asuma, who then had an affair with kurenai, who gaven birth to konohamaru, who was given to hokage to take care of because a sexy jounin like her is too busy to take care of her own son? just a guess

hehe nah, he&#39;s pretty cool. I think he&#39;s just an average Jounin, nothing particularly special about him. He was just on a much higher level than all those sound guys, that&#39;s why he won so easily.

Kurenai is the sexy jounin together with Anko, they are masters of sexual service no jutsu.

Asuma and Hayate are the disease experts, Hayate uses AIDS no jutsu on his enemies and Asuma uses Lung Cancer no jutsu.

And i thought all ninjas can do ninjutsu genjutsu just rock lee is very bad on it ;/ cause he has no talent ... so Asuma should have some special abilities not just the dagger nukkle thing

I think you can&#39;t be a jounin if you are not expert in all fields of being a ninja. because if Hokage is the top ninja the only rank which comes after that is a jounin or &quot;elite jounin&quot; but i think they are sort of different like Ebisu. So keep all that in mind Asuma gotta to be alot stronger than what we have seen of him. He has got to know a summon, like Gai has the turtle(by the way what can a turtle do anyways lay eggs??? ) and Kakashi has Pakkun. and also Asuma smokes.....he is cool thats it...cough cough

its funny when poeolpe try to correct us. yeah sure the 3rd looks like a monkey and can summon enma (monkey staff) but us manga readers have known the thirds name is sarutobi. and know the anime watchers know as well.

so next time before u try to correct someone, make sure ur right and not blowing steam out ur butt.

eemm you are the only baka here. sarutobi is his actual name. his nickname(only called by 2nd hokage) is Saru which means monkey and is a part of his lastname. the connection with the GITS guy isnt relevant here...

why are there so many asuma threads all of a sudden?

I think thoose pills that choji uses in the manga is the closest thing to steroids.

Asuma ISN&#39;T related to Sarutobi.

As somebody already said, Sarutobi is the first name of the 3rd &amp; the last name of Asuma.
If he was even just a relative to either the 3rd or Konohamaru I am pretty darned sure the manga would have shown that already, what&#39;s with the 3rd&#39;s burial and all.

My guess is that Asuma comes from a ninja family who changed their surname to Sarutobi to honor the 3rd. Doesn&#39;t that sound pretty good? It just came to mind.

You never hear them say Hatake-Sensei

Hell we dont even know Gai&#39;s last name.

And you cant say that Oro is showing respect for saying the last name of his old teacher istead of the first name, The only thing he has is contempt for the 3rd. And i think the whole idea of him saying that was to reveal that the 3rd was his teacher.
