i doubt their just normal henchmen, remember they had unique apperances, whereas all the other 'enemy; nins have the little 'im from sound/sand' uniforms on, that cover the face so the animators dont have to draw too much these guys had complicated unique apperances with hairsyles and stuff, they have to be more than just run of the mill henchmen.

Everybody chill it is just a TV show. The barrier was created as a device to have orochimaru and Sarutobi fight. No more, no less. They even had the 4 sounds put a Barrier inside the barrier to protect themselves. So sit back relax and enjoy the battle.

And another thing people are saying the chidori can cut through almost everything. Well thats true ALMOST everything. The barrier being some that it cant
