Thread: How do i play .ram files?

  1. #1
    Ram plays in real player as far as can remember.... unless u mean a live ram in which case you would need a butcher....

  2. #2
    Yeah, but you'd have to be absolutly insane to get Real Player.

    Instead you should use the RealPlayer alternative codec, which plays in Windows Media Player Classic.

    It's clean, it's simple, and it works better in many ways if you ask me. Should you be unable to find it, i could probably host the file if you want and link it.

    hiroshi, post a link where the codec for .ram is.

    RealAlternative (Real Player Codec for WMPClassic), can be downloaded from Here.

    As it turns out, QuickTime Alternative can also be downloaded from the same location, for the same program.

    Also, in case WMPClassic dosn't get installed with the Alternative Codec (But i think it does), or you simply want an up to date version of the program, you can download it from Here.

    The WMPClassic program is actually quite cool. It's very light if you know what i mean, but at the same time it's pretty powerful. Just looking at it makes me smile ;

    Is it compatible with the standard WMP, or just the Classic?

  6. #6
    When I installed the real alternative codec on my old PC real player stopped working and I couldn't stream real player files on my compter anymore... since the alternative codec doesn't have streaming capability.

  7. #7
    I haven't and i'm never gonna install RealPlayer... so this codec works right? just install and open Windows Media Player?

  8. #8
    hm.. i don't know if it works with the normal WMP or not. o_o;

    Just install and play. I think Hunter has something about the streaming though, i have had problems with a RealP Stream before.

    But any other RP file should play fine if you use this codec.
    Just install and play ^^

    What file is it, Real Alternativ 1.11 or 1.20, it's the newest one right?

  10. #10
    1.20 would be the newest one.
    1.11 is an older version in case you wish to fall back to it for some reason.
