I just finished watching it and I got to say that it was totally awesome. I'll be drooling in anticipation for the sub.

It ends when Sakura is about to cancel the genjutsu on Naruto and the faking Shikamaru.

no, they haven't started yet, mainly because they seem to have thrown in a few extra things into this episode that we didn't see in the manga.
The action is v.good, and I only had one complaint about the art work in this ep. The bit where you see Gara and his team... Gara is so badly drawn! i mean really badly, looks like a monkey dressed up to look like Gara or something
man the hokage oro fight is gonna be great. jutsus flying everywhere like madness! but im mainly waiting for all the stuff happening after the war stuff is over.

They must have because if they went by the manga, the kids should have woke up 10 minutes into it, not at the end.

Itachi's appearance is not all that far off. He comes in around chapter 140 of the manga which is slightly after the Gaara/Naruto battle. And of course since the anime from now til then is based on the best parts of the manga the time will fly.

Let me guess your referring to the introduction of Uchiha Itachi. It is gonna be so sweet watching him own Kakashi, Kurenai and Asuma.

How far is that away though? Bloody ages. I'd estimate about July or August, if not longer.
Especially if you consider how much they're gonna drag out Naruto vs. Gaara.

I don't mind then. Even though I can't believe its going to take until the end of the episode for Sakura to wake up Naruto and...

They will probably show a glimpse of Itachi and Kisame pretty soon. I mean in this episode they show Shino. That kinda pisses me off because for me it was a complete suprise to see Shino show up.
Overall the episode was very good. I kinda liked the music. It sounded evil.
the fighting in this episode was so stupid. you just see black streaks flying into each other and then bouncing back. the artists evidently are unable to draw multiple things going on at once, very noticeable in naruto vs neji and this episode. and it only looked like there were a handful of sand nins there attacking instead of an army. lame episode.

nah enemy was attack at different places and its not like world war 2 with millions of men..
and the fighting... in the manga you saw it the same way as in the anime
overrated episode.... the one cool thing was when Gai did one of those Bruce Lee punched on a sound guy and went -HAAAAAAUAAUUAUAA- you know that hit when the the knuckles are facing up and towars the enemy and the hand shakes after the hit. i love that punch.
Episode 68 covers chapters 115 (all) and 116 (up to page 16)
all its missing is Sakura getting the mission - so its really a pretty fast episode -
I think that part of the problem is that all of us who read the manga have favorite scenes coming up (naruto vs Gaara, 3rd vs Orochi, Village War, Aftermath with Itachi) and we can't wait to see them animated.
Keep in mind that the war "ends" in chapter 138 - and the itachi storyline begins in 139 - there are 22 chapters to go - and at the rate they are being made into anime it should be between 11 and 15 chapters - depending on how much they expand the fights to show things better that only take up a single page or frame in the manga -
still - it should be an amazing 3-4 months of anime to watch ne?
mm it's gonna be exciting
after watching it i dont think it's much of a filler either
for one all of it has been done in the manga, even though it might have been shorter in the manga since you could just flip through it =p
but even if it hadn't been made in the manga either it wouldn't have felt much like a filler.. it's all part of the storyline and fun
fillers have a feeling of being irrelevant and unnesseary.. none of this episode had that imo
as for whomever was upset about the black streaks.. uh.. whatever!
exactly what was going on there was irrelevant as far as that part of the story goes
it's much better if they keep the focus on the things that are relevant (like the people when they're talking) instead of having lots of people flying around in the background
it'll look really messy, not to mention they'll have to draw more = worse quality. it's not like these guys are the best at drawing so cut them some slack
Well, personally, that was one of my favourite episodes. Music was awesome. The short bursts of fighting ruled. The tension was sustained throughtout.
Can't wait 'till the next one...
