Shit...This isn't good.I got hit by a bad link,a ton of pop ups,,and a notice saying my isp is going to do an investigation.I'm scanning my comp now, things should be fine, but an investigation, now I"m getting freaked. I didn't even mean for that to happen, and now I'm going to be tracked. What is the routine for an investigation..Damn....this isn't good.So what should I do?

If the notice is real and not some prank someone could've pulled on you then keep in mind that usually they (the authority) can't just walk into your house w/o a warrant by probable cause, and start searching your personal belongings. I would think that if you were doing something that wasn't legal, they'd just bust you one day, instead of telling you that they're gonna do an investigation. What good is warning you since you could simply reformat the drive on your pc anywhow. Don't start to worry...yet. Be cool and think it through. Are you sure it's not just some bs prank notice?

LOL... you're paranoid. It's nothing.

BTW reformatting your hd doesn't do anything since they logged it all.

hmm you say Gain & porn popus. This could definitely be spyware related.<-Gain's spyware for sure. I think the warning about the investigation is a fake that was probably an attempt to scare you while it installs more spyware on your system. Don't take any chances though.

I just don't want to get fucked...I'm thinking about laying low with downloads for a while for safety reasons.
I also kept getting a ton of pop ups for active-x's to automaticlly be configured for the site,so I assume spyware was going to be installed like you mentioned.Scanned my PC for it,its clean.I still don't want the police at the door coming in RIAA style with a warrant.
I'm probably paranoid..but still..that shit can freak you out..

lol RIAA Style. Sorry but I thought that sounded kinda funny.
Well it's good that the scan shows no spyware on your pc. spyware sucks.

A friend of mine got something like that. Its just an ad or something like an ad. Anything can scan what ISP your using. Hell, someppl here have Sigs that do it

I wouldnt worry about it. Most likely its a pain in the ass spyware thing. I'd get a remover incase it installed itself onto your compy.

ya, chill man.....its just a whole bunch of bullshit.

what exactly were u doing that ur so scared now?

anyway, i'd suggest running Spybot: search and destroy, spywareblaster and adaware........the first and last will search and remove any spyware (its better to run a few diff programs, in case one of'em misses something) and the middle one will block unwanted sites/cookies/trackers shit like that.

Yeah that's happened to me a bunch (while i'm surfing for porn ). Nothing's ever happened so I wouldn't worry about it.

I used to get stupid messages like that almost everytime I opened up Iexplorer. It is just nonsence. I installed stopzilla about 7 months ago and haven't got anything since.
