how can i remove this damn thing?

ok, i have this adware program running on my computer called "apropos"....its runs by itself, even if i close it from task manager.....its seems to restart every few minutes. i've run spyware killers several times, and i've even deleted the files from the registry. i even searched the entire registry to make sure i hadn't missed any of its files......but the stupid thing keeps comming back. i dont even know what program it came with


any idea on what i could do to get rid of it?

oh, and the uninstall thing appears in add/remove programs, but when i try it, it says it couldn't read the installation path from the registry.

Seriously though..... if you've run spyware killers and deleted registry files, there's not a lot of options left.

Someone who told another how to fix it and it worked.

The problem is your not deleteing all of the program.These programs have other programs nested in them.When they detect one of the componets have been removed,it will re-download it.Your missing something,check the link above.

usually if this is the case I reinstall the program and then uninstall cuz the installation path is back...

I too recommend Ad-aware, easy to download and it&#39;s freeware..

well if you know the name of the .exe file search for it and delete it.

Unzip and run the exe. It might not find your program thing, but try it none the less. It&#39;s a very small program, you don&#39;t even need to install it. Just run the exe, and it does a quick scan and tells you what objects it&#39;s found.

It looks for anything attaching itself to your browser mainly, but you&#39;d be surprised as to what is actually attached to your browser that you can&#39;t see. Also this thing can give you detailed info regarding it (Location of it&#39;s components etc), and also allow you to disable it.

Don&#39;t know if it will solve your problem, but try it at least. ^^

Copy and paste that into a new window, because geocities uses an anti-leeching system which makes it so if i made it a hyperlink, it wouldn&#39;t work.

Is the program called &quot;apropos&quot; in your windows task manager? You might try using regedit and do a search for anything called apropos, then delete any entries with that name. By doing this your can take the bull by the horns and prevent that annoying program from ever starting again. A word of warning tho, messing around in your registry can cause serious harm to your operating system. If you open regedit and feel completely lost, then maybe this program is not for you...

my spyware removal program is called Ad-aware by lavasoft. i dont know if its the same as yours, but i find it very usefull. maybe u can try downloading it at download.com or seomthing.
