And they are similar on these basis
#1: Both have Sharingan (or atleast one)
#2: They are both geniouses
#3: They both have samekind of abilites, which enable them to learn chidori (and I don't think you need Sharingan to learn it)
Hmm It is not nessecary to have sharingan to learn it, but u would have to posses such an ability similar to the Sharingan to forsee the Enemys dodge and to make sure to hit him. Chidori would be kinda useless with the ability to counter the enmys dodge.

Hmmm, Kakashi isnt really of Uchiha BL. All he has is a eye that is not his. Between Sasuke and kakashi, saying they both are bloodline is wrong. Sasuke probably has more abilitys of the sharingan then kakashi does. But by the saying that they are the same....Kakashi was indicating, the sharingan,

nonetheless chidori isnt sharigan-required as it is just kakashi's sole original technique, nothing to do with sharingan.

let's close this one before yet another person state they are both genius and share the sharigan... hey wait, I just did it...
Why does everyone here look only at the most obvious things that they resemble each other in?
1. They both has sharingan.... So what? Itachi has Sharingan, but if anyone said Sasuke was anything like Itachi, he would probably rip their heads of.
2. That are both genious... And? Neji is also a genious, as well as Shikamaru, Naruto, Gaara, Rock Lee and so many others. But none of these think that they are alike in any way...
What do i know? But at least i for one think that Gai and kakashi says that because Kakashi might have had the same attitude towards reaching goals, looking at others and wanting to move forward. These are personal things that I think they have in common. Mentioning any of the others as reason is according to me kind of silly, and if those are the reasons, then the maker is silly.

Well if i remember correctly Kakashi said in the very beginning that "Many of my friends' names are engraved on that rock," when he showed his team the rock with the "heroes" of konohana. Possibly all of his friends names are on that rock and possibly his parents, like many other shinobi, were killed fighting the Kyubi. This makes it possibe that he grew up with no loved ones or as they say in "Naruto," "people that are precious to you." Which would make him similar to sasuke losing his whole family. But besides that the same attitude, as gai said that sasuke reminded him of kakashi as a kid. (btw this is unlike naruto who never had parents,where as sasuke and kakashi had their loved ones taken from them with their own eyes )
