This is a common occurance. For example remember how Naruto couldn&#39;t use his Kyuubi powers unless he was totally drained of chakra? Now let&#39;s see, what technique could we give Naruto&#39;s opponent, Neji, that would do that? 64-hands of hakke perhaps?

Of course that is not the only thing these characters do. It adds flavor to a would-be stale story if it was only about the main cast, and that is pretty much the point of it all - to keep it interesting.

P.S. Lee was a genius - he was a genius of hard work remember? Also he had the ability to open more gates than a normal person would.
