There is an interview floating around on several ff7 advent childern fan sites.
I can't remember the name of the guy being interviewed but he said that it was 2hours long. it was too long to be put in theaters.
and they wanted to avoid the hassle

its not going to be dubbed at all, infact its not going to be released outside of japan for one.
Due to how badly final fantasy the spirits within did they're not going to risk releasing it world wide and just be safer with their audience in japan.
Which means that if we're going to get it we have to wait till someone fansubs it

and since they've done this they decided to stop production of ff7 part 2

Dint say i dint belive but it is good to check for ones self. if it is all true. that will suck. Pritty much my hole family is intrested in seeing it. and the hole reason it is going to happen is because of the susses of the animatrix. so one would assume it would be worth wild even for limited release like most anime in North amrican Theateres

Looks like Spirits Within got them owned pretty good. As well it should, it was a total let down.
It's a bummer that they arent gonna dub it though, i was lookin forward to it...

isn't it funny that The spirits within did badly because it wasn't what FF fans were imagining (had very little to do with the final fantasy series)
and advent children will come out just in Japan( and Advent Children will be THE FF movie that fans dream of)

In any case, If it doesn't come to North America we might have to band together, go to japan, go to the arcades for a while, THEN kick some SquareEnix ass!!
