Seems like everyone here has a different opinion than me about all these anime, most of the time. XD
I loved Gunslinger Girl. It was a great series. I loved Noir as well, of course, and even if I were to compare Gunslinger Girl and Noir (Which I wouldn't, since they're more or less completely different), I'd still have to say that I love Gunslinger.
I think a lot of people don't like it because they go into it with the idea of it mostly being about action - guns and the like. But it turns out to be more about emotions and things. I can see why some people wouldn't like it, though, for the fact that it's more of a story of characters, rather than a normal story that follows a plot along.
Still, I loved the series. ^^*
But then .. I tried to watch Narutaru (which, I understand, a lot of people really like) - and I have to say it was one of the worst animes I've ever seen. Horrible, horrible art - and just .. boring. I heard it got better after Episode 1. So I just kept watching, and watching, and hating it more. Blech.

I don't have to compare the two to feel this way about gunslinger... I didn't like it partly because it felt a lot like Noir, but also because i don't like the idea of seeing 5 year old girls manipulated into killing machines.

They're around 10-13-ish an age, though you were probably just exaggerating.
Besides that - there's the fact that nobody likes to see these girls treated the way they are. That's what makes the anime great. It plays a lot on things like that, showing each of the girls and their various emotions. It makes for quite a sad story.
But I realize, since you don't like it now, me saying any of this isn't going to make any difference. XD So I'll just be quiet from now on.
