since kazaa is illegal now... can neone tell me something else to uethats similar to kazaa
ok the best one is kazaa lite k++ its the best one out there it can block your ip and everything its hella sweet...
and yeah kazaa can't be illegal because its not doing anything illeagal ppl on it are by sharing stuff they shouldn't even though most people dun care but if you have to have one i suggest k++ its the best one out there it was also featured on tech tv's "The Screen Savers" so theres one way you know is the cream of the kazaa crops... and its not illegal
get kazaa lite period!
Ok. I'm gonna clear a couple of things up here. First thing:
Kazaa
Kazaa itself isn't illegal, but a legal passing has been made. Kazaa has now been reduced to the likes of Napster, where you now have to pay to access the network, and all media is filtered except for the media which artists agree to allow them to have on the Network. The filter is in by default in the program.
However, there are hacked versions of the program out there, such as Kazaa-Lite or K++. Kazaa-Lite has been allowed, but what i find really really annoying is that although Kazaa-Lite itself is a hacked version of Kazaa. The owner of Kazaa-Lite felt the need to harrass the creator of the Hacked version of Kazaa-Lite (K++), and take him to court. K++ is now illegal, and all websites which host the program, or search engines which link to the program, must take those links down or risk being sued by the makers of Kazaa-Lite.
However you can still find K++ on various other P2P applications.
Kazaa uses the FastTrack network, and as such is a Unique P2P application. However since the court passing of Kazaa, the network hasn't been as good as it use to. Instead of there being millions of possible Nodes in which to connect to, you now have to manually find hosts and add the decent ones to a list of favourites. This allows more flexibility, but there are so few nodes to connect to in comparison to how Kazaa use to be. Thus the search results is a little limited, and the network itself isn't as good as other networks such as the Gnutella Network.
The K++ Website has been moved to Here, but does not host the application.
2.4.0 of K++ can be found on a website Here.
However certain components of the K++ is out of date and won't work properly. Such as the IP Blocker, which is now unable to update from the PeerGuardian website. Updated versions of the various tools used in K++ can be found Here.
Please note, the links i have supplied are not directly related to the K++ client, but rather link to a website which merely has the client hosted and talks about the client in spanish.
Other P2P Networks like Kazaa
If you're looking for the simple search method, rather than the hub, node method that Edonkey and DC and DC++ give you. Then you should try Shareaza. This is a simple application which connects to 4 different networks, and gives you a powerful search tool for at least 3 of those networks.
It connects to the Edonkey2000 Network, the Gnutella1 Network, and the Gnutella2 network. You have the ability to manipulate the amount of Hubs or Leafs you connect to if you want, and which specific ones, or you can leave it on a simple mode where it connects to a default number and lets you do a search very much like Kazaa use to. The 4th network is the Torrent network. The difference between the Torrent network in this though, in comparison to all the others. Is that it uploads whilst you're still downloading, and thus ensures the maximum download speed you can get on the torrent network (Although sometimes it's still slow.)
The Edonkey network is slow in the fact you get qued a lot. Often even if you get past those ques by waiting, it might not download due to firewalls, or be slow because the user is being a bast. However on occasion once past the que stage it can be incredibly fast, but this isn't very often the case. The main thing about this network though, is the ability to locate ANY file you could possibly want. It's very good for finding those hard to find rare files.
The Gnutella Networks (1 and 2) are very good networks indeed. Much like what you use to use on the Kazaa network, but better. Very fast, and a pretty large community. The only downside to networks like this is that your search results may not be all that huge in comparison to say the Edonkey network or whatever. But persist and keep searching, and the chances are that if you find the file you want, your download rate will be a decent rate
It dosn't block those unwanted IP addresses unless you specify them. There is a security file in XML format to do exactly this for Shareaza, but is becoming hard to find. A link is located in the Privacy and Security section of the Shareaza network, but the link appears to be broken. Try making a search for "Shareaza Security File" in google or something if you want to try to find it. This will block fake downloads, various virus downloads, as well as FBI IP addresses etc. I would host the file myself publically, but my firewall wouldn't allow it.
And there you have it. o_o
What's the difference between DC and DC++.I also heard you have to share retarded amounts like 20+gb's just to get into most of the decent hubs.

When was the ruling on kazaa made, (if any). As far as I know it's still legal. It just depends on the content that is shared. And of course there's the spyware.
For an alternative try Kazaalite <--no spyware, has option for auto search more sources. Much better than the regular kaaza.
Apart from that just check suprnova.org <--uses bt to dl files.

Just wanna make sure u understand, that hiddenpookie is completly right, grab k-lite, no spy or add pop-ups and shit, btw kazaa isnt illegal anyway, all p2p file swapping is supposedly illegal, but nothing is gonna change no matter what RIIA or neone thinks, so fuck em. switch to k-lite anyway though, if u use that kind of thing, it is much better then the original kazaa neway. also mirc is the best place to DL anything if u wanna take the time out to learn how to use.

Everything with Kazaa is bullshit even the ++ sucks, Try DirectConnect ++
K-Lite isn't, but K++ is illegal. That's why hardly any websites host the program anymore. But you can still download it in some places, it's just that little harder to find.
DC++ is better than DC in many ways. It's a hacked version of DC just like K++ was a hacked version of K-Lite. You should check the website to find out more information Here.
I know kazaa is somewhat skanky, but klite ++ is actually pretty good, dont get me wrong I am pro mirc/bittorrent all I am saying is kazaa isnt that bad. well it is but it has good selection
BTW - the joker is now a jounin, higher level of jokes shall now be on the forums Im a jounin hear me joke

You can't use that website cause i've already tried, it says that it doesnt' host that anymore and you can find it on Emule (whatever that is)
Virtually, now it's almost impossible to get kazaa lite K++ unless you had the website already (which i did have, and lost it, in my mind) or you download it from version of kazaa (which is very possible because that is where my friend got it because when you first download kazaa lite K++, one thing i noticed is that one of the things you start of sharing with is the setup for it. So if you want it, you have to use another version of kazaa.
have u tried imesh, right now i currently use imesh and its a decent program but i still prefer bittorrent over all of them
Meh.. I don't like the FastTrack network much either anymore, because it's recently become so dead. It use to be a very good network though, but since the Record Companies attention went it's direction, the network has been devastated.
But it's still one extra network for an alternative source of information. It's not as bad as say the Napster one, it's still operational and because of the hacked versions of kazaa, there are still files which can't be filtered out on the network.
DC and DC++ do use the same networks. I'm not sure about finding good ones whilst sharing only a small amount of media, as i've often found the best ones are actually the ones which require the most. But it's because they require so much that makes them so good. For every person who joins the hub and shares their media, the more they share the more media there is available. That's why they require a stupid amount, because only the generous deserve to be able to leech the best stuff.
For instance. A very nasty habit of your standard leecher, is to have a folder for all their downloads to go into, and share a very small amount and obscure media which people are unlikely to of heard of or want to download. That way they leech the most without any worries of their bandwidth being taken by other users.
DC and DC++ destroy this whole system by making it so you have to share a certain amount before you're allowed access.
I found where you can get Kazaa lite K++ version 2.4.2 via bitTorrent
Here's the link!

They are just different clients that connect to the same network essentially. Yes, you do have to share 'retarded' amounts to get in to good hubs... but the funny thing is the biggest hubs only require things like 5GB.... guess its a trade off... more people with less stuff or less people with more stuff.
It's annoying for me right now because my new HD only has a 40 gig capacity and my media is on my old computer
Well, i know some people just share their whole C: Drive simply to access Hubs. I think that's out of order really, but i guess if you have a small harddrive, what else are you going to do eh? So i kind of understand if they do.
You said it's on your other computer? So you have a network? That's awesome! You can share specific folders from your network you know?
Kaaza is still legal. You even have to pay for it now.
I've been saying it's legal and you have to pay for it already =P
It's K++ that's illegal, that's what i'm saying ^^'
Just a simple misunderstanding =P
