Kinda strange that only the weaker of the Genin still have their parents. Gaara, Temari and Kankuro lost their mother. Neji lost his father. Naruto, Rock Lee, Haku and Sasuke don't have any parents.

the ninja life is a dangerous life.
anyway, i'm not sure about the "those that can't do teach" thing, in most cultures teachers are highly respected; and in terms of the martial arts, usually the best disciple/master is given the majority of the students. if you want the young to grow up strong it only makes sense to put them with the best.

i like the genin's with parents pictures that start the newer chapters. looks nice as a contrast of generations
I want to see Gai REALLY fight; They show him kick a bit of ass during the attack on konoha... but to be honest I don't think kishimoto showed him OR kakashi enough in that scene. That's why the genin parents seemed much stronger.... because it showed them wiping out many weakling wusses at once. I bet Gai and Kakashi could do the same. if he had shown Gai fight more, I would have been so thrilled

The InoShikaCho parents showed up in the anime once already, I think. I have that ep someplace... it's quite amusing.
But yes, the other genin's parents are quite interesting.
I agree... Shino's dad is an auron clone XD he just doesn't have the scar... and his sake gourd is a lot bigger. muahaha

i thought it was pretty cool how they showed the parents. kind of an sneak peek to what they will probably grow up to be. if they live anyways..
