Ecchi is when they show people naked but not in a explicitly sexual nature. For intance Onegai Twins the girls sit around in the bath all the time naked lots of random shoots of them nude. Ranma 1/2 also a lot or random shoots of nudity. These are both Ecchi because while there is nudity its basically softcore you just see some boobs here or there.

Ranma 1/2 is not Ecchi at all it&#39;s nudity is purely comedic the characters who are nude are almost always uncomfortable it was part of the nature of the show

It was never meant to be taken as arousing.

Ecchi however is more of a sexually arousing atmosphere.

Goku was nude quite a bit in Dragonball and Bulma had a few flash scenes but they were always meant to be funny not sexy.

Stuff like some of the scenes in Gunbuster, (invented the Gainax bounce), Love Hina, Misato in Eva were ecchi.

to answer the question of if a japanese kid growing up watchin this would become a pervert, lets consider, the typical child in america grows up watchin barney and teletubbies, and yet grows up to be extremely perverted, so a kid watchin ecchi anime series and/or hentai...yes will most like either become a pervert or already is one
