    Ballpark de Tsukamaete!

"To escape his tiring job, weary Murata finds escape at a nearby baseball stadium. While the games are thrilling, it's Ruriko, the gyaru as cold as the beer she serves but secretly a sweetheart, who keeps him coming back. As her first regular, Murata discovers the warmth behind her frosty demeanor, and their hilarious, heartwarming encounters light up the ballpark and maybe even their hearts.

Pretty good, if you like a cozy 'folks living their lives' kind of setting. Almost reminds me of Working, but with less drama (for comedic effect). Main vendor girl and guy have the Nagatoro relentless teasing thing going on, but without the romantic payoff. Side characters get a good portion of screen time these first few episodes, and many of the gags feel pretty fresh. Recommended, though the animation is pretty cheap.

It's fun, relaxing, and Ruriko is girl of the season imo.

Not at lot else to add about it other than it is enjoyable.

And the MotorSuns may kinda suck, but they seem to have a very good vibe at the stadium.

Come on. The announcer's sudden realization of her romance was cute.

Ruriko isn't wasted here, she's the spark that changing the whole park's dynamic. It's a nice little way of showing that one person can start a whole cascade of positive developments and not even be aware of it themselves.

It might have been an easy "mystery," but the real takeaway was almost no one uses the suggestion box, and Ruriko got ten people to use it in a short time period.

The positive energy that Ruriko injected into the collective vibe of the park has improved everyone's lives (including her own through increased confidence being real now instead of faked), and those people she's interacted with have gone on to improve the lives of others around the park too.

Is it normal for Japan announcers' booth to be at ground level? That's not normal in the US, they're usually up rather high to see the whole field.

Sun-Shiro snapping was kind of funny, but I feel sorry for the other mascot that got an unscripted beating.

20kg is heavy to lug around on your shoulders for ages. I don't go to ballgames, but I would imagine it to be difficult to sustain business.

It seems that this anime's depiction is quite on point. 10-12 keg changes per game! That's a keg every 15mins for a 3hr game.

that should have been in the script from the start. you have to give the host the win. and it makes for better drama.

it's nice to meet the other vendor girls, but isn't the one from the photo the same one which wants to a teacher? isn't she too old for this? teachers in Japan are always really young in anime, and I don't think she can do it as extra work.

sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

The photo features Kohinata (the 400-cup girl with the mole on her right chin) and Natsume (I don't recognise the name or the character, maybe she hasn't been introduced yet).

The aspiring teacher is Aona (https://myanimelist.net/character/261017/Aona). She's not in the picture.

I agree about letting the host win.

I'm glad the teasing overall has toned down. It's okay in small doses, but I would have found it stressful and uncomfortable to watch if it was the main focus of the show.

    edit:

Oh, looks like the whole half-hat thing is also exactly like that in real life:

Ruriko sporting a NIRVANYA shirt and getting upset at being called childish by Sara the high-schooler was probably the highlight besides Sun-Shiro knowing he couldn't let the home team fans down (including Ruriko).

Part of me wants to know a little more about why Ruriko decided to apply to the job considering how little she knows about baseball and also that she wasn't really prepared to do the "selling herself" part of the job that first week (so she doesn't fit into many of the typical cases for applying as an uriko), but I also like the mystique that Ruriko is just this significant driver to the overall MotorSuns community that has pushed everyone to be better without having any intention of doing so at all. She's just a ray of sunshine causing a cascade of positive shifts.

That article is a little biased towards the end, trying to play at some "problematic culture" that doesn't exist. Many of the vendors apply to the job to launch their careers in other entertainment/media fields precisely because it is a very accessible way to build a social media fanbase. It's tough work, but getting exposure to hundreds of fans can build a following very quickly. The underground idol industry and factory mega-idol groups are way worse. It alluded to it a little bit, there's nothing stopping men from applying, but women apply at a ratio of 100-1.
