Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku

"* Based on a slice of life drama manga written by Takeda Ayano and drawn by Musshu.

On the picturesque island of Tonakijima with a population of only 600, Hana's favorite pastime is reading literature to the island's children. Her narration skills are second to none, and Mizuki, the president of the school's broadcasting club immediately recognizes Hana's ability to engage with others and draw them into her recitations. Invited by Mizuki to join the club, Hana embarks on a journey to discover her true love of reading — and maybe even change the course of her life along the way.

Very well produced and directed (some KyotoAni vibes). Demure girl likes to read out loud and is recruited by pushy senpai (the best kind) into the radio club to share her voice and oration skills with more. A pleasure to watch and effortlessly engaging. Strong recommend if you are looking for a non-action show.

The overall flow was nice to watch, but I REALLY couldn't make out anything special when she was "reading" or reciting or whatever. Without the added music and visuals, it would have been completely lame. This feels like such a niche topic to center an anime around, I dunno. Will give it one more episode.

I expect imagination will have to do the heavy lifting for most of the 'skill' in oration, similar to most niche artistic focused anime, but I was more captivated by the direction and animation, myself.

I'm curious how they did that in the manga. Like, it's just text.
