I'm not sure about how it all actually works.

It sounds like the Kingdom became a dungeon to me.

I was actually slightly hesitant when I found out Trigger was going to do this show.

I can appreciate that they're technically good, and I liked TTGL, but Kill a Kill felt like a repeat of that over-the-top style that didn't quite hit TTGL levels for me, and whatever other shows I've seen them do felt loud and shouty from a stylistic perspective.

On the other hand, I enjoyed Dungeon Meshi a lot. Marcille annoyed me initially with her reluctance to do shit (not unlike Zenitsu was annoying initially) but I soon grew to like her.

Zenitsu combined his annoying cowardice with an incredibly irritating voice though.

And Zenitsu has no redeeming qualities.

Except that Thunder Breathing is cool as fuck, even if it's rather one dimensional. His slashing of the spider demon was the coolest move in Demon Slayer to date IMO.

But that isn't a Zenitsu quality, it's just a technique literally any other person could've learned and replaced him. And they could do it while conscious too.

Yeah the unconscious thing did mean that Zenitsu could never deliberately do something good. It was after he passed out from pissing himself.

While it was good that they changed that later, it clashed with what they had established prior.

They didn't really change it. They just unrealistically stretched what he could do while "unconscious". To the point where he was just walking around and talking with his eyes closed.
