Somewhere partway between Komi-chan's animation, Master Takagi's cute playfulness, and Kaguya-sama's machinations lies Boku no Kokoro. It's the cutest thing I've seen all season. Let me get the premise out of the way first: Ichiokawa is no killer: he's a chuuni that watched too much Dexter, for sure. And that's could be really cute depending on how they handle it, and so far it's well. Yamada's derp personality is a perfect foil to Ichiokawa's head cannon and the scenarios are more creative than I first thought they would be.

This is also surprisingly pervy with the side cast putting all sorts of unnecessary ideas in our (and his) head. Definitely recommend.

Still going strong and as cute as ever. Yamada is adorable in the clumsy ways she courts Ichikawa, and even his mental barriers are eroding to allow entertaining the idea that she likes him. One of the better romance series in the last couple years.

Saturday diabetes shows with the other Yamada stealing the light.

The only thing they didn't state yet is why Yamada as cute as she is would be interrested in a chunibyou boy with no real qualities.
Of course the fact he does not try to appeal to Yamada, with not much of a facade/mask when dealing with her might be his selling points.
But it could also be: just because.

In fact there's a third over sugary show, the guigui one on sundays.
Boku has a slight edge because characters are a bit older and Yamada has stunning outfits at times.

But this season has 3 very nice sugary shows

This show is fucking great. Dark horse of the season.

It has unique and interesting characters that actually behave like real, albeit quirky, humans. They are also surrounded by totally normal people that aren't there just to tick a box in the stereotypes.

I prefer this over Skip to Loafer just because that show has unnaturally mature teens.

My working theory is that she has just now become aware of boys and attraction, and he happened to be the first boy in her sphere that treated her normally. She'd up till now been surrounded by her watch dog friend and satisfying her attention with snacks. Enter guy that she can talk to, some intimate situations, and feelings develop- faster than I thought they would...

I forgot how cute this could be. The scene where he denied being friendly with Yamada was perfect: tense, understandable, and resolved in a way that allowed both characters to grow or express their feelings.

Is it just me, or is this really good romance? I should be annoyed by the pace of progress, but it's there: bit by bit each episode while remaining largely wholesome.

The show, while well produced, can only be as good as the underlying relationship and its development, and we have an unexpected winner here. Caught me off guard. I expected the cutesy-ness of the pairing to wear off quickly and become generic slop before the first season ended; but no- Ichokawa and Yamada have some good on screen chemistry. I recently noticed that there is also little to no off-model character art shots in this show, which solidifies its visual texture even more. I daresay this might be normie approved.
