Supposedly those panties were her's, but she doesn't even wear them :S
Because he's pretty obviously a 'Monkey King from Saiyuki' dude, when the others are bug people, obvious demons with horns, horse people, bird people, bug people, literally Machoke...

I didn't even realize the two of them were sisters until their super similar names made me recognize their matching hairpins. But if Tits never wears normal clothes...why does she have normal looking panties?!

I don't have much sympathy for Paul because he had become a drunkard. I doubt he would have treated Rudeus like he did if he hadn't fallen so low. Maybe there would have still been some argument between them, but with a clear mind, Paul would have, nevertheless, recognised more things and what's more important. More importantly, he would have actually been able to have a sensible conversation with Rudy. Paul, as well, had suffered his share after the incident and had been forced to take care of Norn pretty much on his own. He shouldn't have been anymore the same man he was back when Rudeus was still living with them and when he jumped to conclusions. However, it's all in vain when he's been poisoning his brain with booze for months. It would be a different thing if he only got wasted once a month to have a break.

His progression through alcoholism was well portrayed silently in the OP.

Drinking first to cope and socialize, then more and more, then starting to hide it when Norn was getting embarrassed in public with him. Then back to not caring at all, as when Rudy showed up.

    Not even a little?

The whole point was that everything he did in that interaction was wrong, and he was a piece of shit for doing it. And that was exactly right, to the point where the only way to fix it was for them to go back and pretend it never happened and do it over.

Rudy had to basically go "Hey, garbageface. This is not how a non-deadbeat dad acts. Here's your script, now let's run it back and do that again."

More importantly, why does she have MODERN looking panties, when she lives in a medieval fantasy world?

If you jump back to the end of episode 2, where Lilia finds Rudy's "treasure" of Roxy's stolen panties, they're always anachronistic and modern.

Most fantasy anime does this. They'd all be fetish nopan appeal if they were remotely historically accurate. How are these type of series supposed to hit all the related appeals if they don't break worldbuilding continuity?

The vast majority of isekai is very generous when designing the supposedly Middle Ages European society. Shoujo/josei isekai is the epitome of making it highly developed, more like up to the 19th century Europe. Of course the wisest authors never speak a word about it supposedly being medieval or anything. This is all quite understandable since the few series that have gone the more realistic route are quite brutish and forlorn stories. Medieval Europe wasn't such a nice place, unless you lived in the few old city states in the south. Even then it would have been worse than almost all of the isekai, and I'm not talking about the lack of panties.

I don't know if it's easy to come up with these design. But I was totally in love with the place they said their goodbyes to each other.

Considering that they could've done this just about everywhere, I kinda love that they bothered to draw/animate a place like this.

It's really fun to actually look a bit at the background throughout the whole show like that.

For example, the spot where they went their ways is also the spot were Paul became bitter after saving others but not finding his own family (during the flashbacks, right before Norn gives Paul her flower-circlet). Probably doesn't mean anything other than the fact that it's a place where they start and end their "missions" but it's actually fun that you can see the same place from a different perspective and know "oh... that's the same spot".

Good catch. I'm glad they could reconcile and continue on the journey without emotional baggage weighing them down more so than the mission itself. It is funny that Eris either got punched, or 'ran into' Rujierd's hand when she was rampaging off screen.

It's hilarious how Mfauli is like, "See, Paul isn't to blame for blaming Rudy!"

And everyone else is like, "FUCK PAUL."

    Oh I haven't said it.

    FUCK PAUL.

He's a lousy man, but of course he could still be a whole lot worse. Despite becoming a drunkard, he apparently still took care of Norn decently enough, although a part of it was gathering a team with members who could do it for him. Still, it was thanks to him because it's not like strangers would look after his daughter with no impetus. He also did dedicate all of his time to finding any victims of the incident, not stopping even when he became a waste of skin drunkard. It's a pity Rudeus needed to be the adult in their meeting, but at least Paul could throw away the booze and get back on track, so he's not hopeless.

    Shrugs

I'm used to uphill battles, but as long as I know I'm right, it's ok ;i

You guys called Makoto from School Days the worst character, too, despite Sekai being the real villain of that anime ;p

But seriously, of course, Paul's reaction was bad. But it was bad for kinda good reasons.

Maybe consider that you are used to uphill battles because you aren't right?

It was bad for understandable reasons, not good reasons. He started drinking because he couldn't handle not finding his family, yet that same drinking almost made him lose the first lost family member he finally met. That's not kinda good or any other sort of good. It was bad for purely bad reasons.

    Episode 18
    -------------------

Well...that is interesting. Roxy is psychically deaf. It makes more sense now that her parents are basically the only other vocal residents in the entire village. Sad and a bit wistful. I'm also glad horseman guilted Roxy into at least visiting. Her parents do treasure her, even if she feels so very alone in that village.

The sound design and VAs absolutely nailed the vomiting noises. Top tier sea sickness variety sounds.

It's quite understandable Roxy's childhood was tough and she didn't want to return to the village. The demon continent is a tough place in general, so it could even worse than being deaf in a human village, possibly. Although maybe she wasn't actively bullied, she just felt totally separated from everyone else. Her people do appear less ruthless than humans, so that could be a positive difference in how handicapped are treated. Horsehead indeed did a good thing in talking her to visit her home. Not to mention that's where she learned Rudeus is more than simply just alive.

The visualization and sound effects of the "broken telepathy" was very well done.
Quite interesting to "hear" it from that kind of perspective.

    Also this:

    2 years ago:

    now:

And I'm not sure if I missed something or if that is just LN material but when Rudeus visited, he got greyish-shit in a bowl
Now Roxy got a nice broth it seems.
I wonder if Rudy implemented some agriculture techniques or something, but I don't think he was there for more than 1-2 days?

So, what was with Roxy's weird fidget animation when horse guy mentioned Dead End?
