Kino's Journey but with a witch.
Kino's a little more unique in that his talking motorcycle gives a source of constant banter when required, while this girl always needs someone unless she is to talk to herself. (which I guess she does)
An easy, enjoyable watch. Much like Kino, really.

Easy watch and some good production. It is distinctly one of the shows that emphasizes an uncaring world, though, as there are not many 'happy' endings so far. Agreed on the Kino's travels vibe, except Elaina has a bit more of a personality, as I remember Kino being more of a blank slate type.

Episode 05
------------------------
I wasn't expecting a Fran episode so soon, let alone getting an explanation for why she was even involved with Elaina or how a "common mother" convinced such a powerful witch to teach Elaina just because she needed some hardship.
Thinking back, Elaina's hometown witches might have all shunned her on the instructions of her mother, not because they saw trouble in a prodigy apprentice necessarily.
