I've always felt that anime is uniquely able to commit, whole hog, to ludicrous concepts in such a way that they go full circle and become surrealistically enjoyable. Your mileage will likely be directly proportional to how much you (can) enjoy Japanese rap battles. The plot is paper thin, but the spectacle of the music itself is pretty well produced (CG pretty boys aside...)
