    The God of High School

It all began as a fighting tournament to seek out for the best fighter among all high school students in Korea. Mori Jin, a Taekwondo specialist and a high school student, soon learns that there is something much greater beneath the stage of the tournament.

I hope ep2 gets better. Art is hard to get used to. Didn't enjoy first ep, let's give it another chance.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

I liked it, but too much time spent on the bike chase. Then again, big fan of fighting tournaments.

Second episode is out, last fight was quite exciting... want to see what is beyond this tournament.

I dropped this after ep 1. Unfortunately I hate everything about it. Didn't expect this to be THAt over-the-top, breaking stone walls and shit.

After three episodes, I feel like I can safely say that there is a discernible difference in web comics from regular 'zine fare... unsurprisingly it is editorial oversight...

This author is left to their own devices in crafting a bare-bones shounen tournament arc from the get-go, and it shows. Random power ups, characters having flashy fights will basically no build up of strategies or techniques until they happen... there is a reason the formula exists... giving characters time to develop and grow a bit adds emotional attachment for the audience before you throw the two battling tops into the arena and see which falls over first. The animation, while flashy isn't quiiiite sakuga enough to impress in this case.

Comparisons to Tower of God are likely due to the source genre (Korean Webcomics), but the similarities really end there.

I can't recommend this, but some of the fight compilation videos might be worth a watch in the future...

I was enjoying this as a nice Street Fighter-esque tournament of normal/potentially supernatural martial artists.

Then the Stands started appearing and I lost a bit of interest. Then I REALLY lost interest at the wedding episode. Then I went back to being interested but still not wanting there to be Stands.

Dragon ball goku, with the stick and his ape nickname. He even plays with clouds... I know, I'm strecthing it a bit
Oh, and they also have a perfect cure fall all kind of injuries bar death.
But they probably beat death too, like in the DB universe, later in the story.

You...you're not. It's CLEARLY intentional. The cloud attack is even called Kintoun.

Yes, I know that technically both characters are based on Son Wukong from Journey to the West and the pole and the cloud both come from that. But literally the MOST FAMOUS ANIME CHARACTER OF ALL TIME is already based on that legend.

And then your secondary protagonist is based on the Ninetails, just like the SECOND MOST FAMOUS ANIME CHARACTER OF ALL TIME.

Like, jesus-fucking-christ how derivative can you be. I look forward to season 2 when they introduce a rubber man.

    Yeah I agree for NineTails.
Even that demon looks like one of the bad guys in Naruto, the guy that manipulated his bones into weapons.
It's true that we have had a melting pot of many past anime/stories.
But as you said, they all derive from the same cultural sources.

Yeah... If the series ended there, I could muster a "decent if you're new to anime" recommendation, but it looks like it is set to continue.

There is simply nothing gripping, story or characters wise, to make this worth watching. You could make a case for the 'sakuga', but even that is uneven and the moment to moment animation can get downright nasty. Sorry to say, but this is a safe skip, in my estimation.

So glad I dropped this early on. This anime is the poster child of "dont trust the trailers"

It was no Tower of God, that's for sure. Crunchyroll's 2nd attempt to make Korean anime happen wasn't nearly as well chosen as it's first.

And I say that while still liking the early parts when it was just martial arts fights. But as soon as the Stand shit took over, it just became generic anime nonsense. And the idea that they set this up to continue when they went from kung fu fights to slaying gods in 13 episodes is ridiculous.
