221151.jpg
"Hatoya Kohane is a cheerful girl who loves to help people. Her world changed right before her middle school graduation when she fell in love with a cheerleading squad supporting baseball teams at the river. Kohane was determined to join the high school cheerleading club but was disappointed to find out that they didn't have one. However, at the entrance ceremony she meets Arima Hizume and finds out that she is a member of the cheer squad she spotted at the river. Feeling it must be fate, Kohane finds the courage to start a cheerleading club of her own and successfully recruits Hizume as well as her childhood friend Sawatari Uki and classmate Tatejima Kotetsu. Kohane's plan to spread love and support to all seems to be off to a flying start..."

Okay, one episode in and this greatly surpassed my expectations. I would currently rate it a half step down from New Game! in quality because the animation is a bit more modest. Anime Yell has done what is rare enough for me to take notice: the main character is an 'airhead' without being actually stupid or genius, which takes a degree of subtlety. The exact moment I was officially "in" was when, during the first episode, Kohane was listening to the sempai read her 'getting to know me' pamphlet and, when she stated 'no' to cheer club, pointed to the part that said 'I'm persistent' with a big, doofy smile. Cute and endearing, like the scenes where she just runs off to help people randomly. It doesn't look special, and it really isn't, but I would encourage you to give it a try for some easy watching.
