E39
-------------------------------
Kinda slow, a "Rimuru is so benevolent" episode.
Otherwise actual plot points were merely:
1) Veldora did it.
2) Welcome alliance people.
3) Fuck you Clayman (and he's ?apparently not a demon lord since he's also after a bunch of lives)
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
The title of a demon lord has seemed kind of ambiguous. At first it appeared to be a bunch of non-humans ruling countries or regions equivalent to countries, but then it got a whole lot more technical with a large amount of humans needed to be sacrificed for one to become a demon lord. But then again, if "demon lord" isn't actually a very official title, it does make sense the definition could be less than strictly defined or could have changed over time in the history of that world. Do we know if Ramiris has actually slaughtered thousands of humans? I can't remember. It just seems pretty unlikely.
Anyone can proclaim themselves a demon lord.
But 'true demon lords' are those who have awakened like Rimuru just did. One way to that is to kill lots of people. Rimuru did that, and Clayman has been plotting to do so. But we have to assume there are also other ways because there are extremely old demon lords.
Funny the episode was called, like, "Ramirez' big announcement" but she never actually got to, like, deliver her message. She got sidetracked and then passed out.
Episode 40
----------------------
-I would feel uncomfortable with sending the prisoners back without Diablo. Too easy to trick Youm or just overpower him.
-Rimuru does know how to teleport from memory.
-Veldora being an anti-ambush bastion is a good way to write him off attending any of Rimuru's offensive attacks routinely from a narrative POV.
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
Ramiris is so stupid for how apparently powerful she claims to be. No reason to not believe her either, she is a true demon lord and Veladora knows her.
I didn't notice is before, but she reminds me of a lot of the 90s anime characters played by Hayashibara Megumi (Lina Inverse, female Ranma, Lime from Saber Marionette, etc.).
I'm not convinced that is a hard rule. Especially not for Ramiris. I've said it before and I'll say it again. They've implied that killing shitloads of people is the easiest way. They've never said it is the only way.
Ramiris is older than Milim's reign as a demon lord, which is thousands of years per the dragon myth that is obviously about Milim. Ramiris is shown as the fairy queen in the images. Same color hair, wings, and braids.
Which means there's something off about Ramiris' current state in general.
She's boastful, is really old, and has claimed varying degrees of power while in present state is very weak. Also tiny currently when in the Milim-dragon myth she's way bigger.
And she just casually mentioned that she'll open an entrance to her labyrinth in Tempest. Her labyrinth that is really far away.
I wonder if you can become a TDL just by killing another TDL.
Most definitely. You just need a sacrifice of that amount, not necessarily from that specific source.
Peace.
Ramiris isn't any stupider than Milim.
I'm close to dropping this anime :/ Is this the last season or is it longer than that?
Between everything that happens being so predictable and boring, and Rimuru laughing and acting cheerful when he's not a good guy - this has become a hard watch.
Also:
Rimuru could just fly to the Animal Kingdom and save people ... take Veldora with him, too ...
"She's the only non-loli girl in the show, your honor!" will be my defense in court
I guess that's true, technically. Though when he knows Clayman is there, at least is supposed to be, accusing him of all kinds of things, he would want to be there. Otherwise he might as well admit Clayman's claims are correct. He also declared himself a demon lord, and Walpurgis is a gathering of demon lords. Which choice would give him better chances of stopping Clayman's plans and counterattack? Not that he would know all of Clayman's plans. He doesn't even know why Milin seems to be cooperating with Clayman.
