Wait, series? Huh.

I guess this is just the lighthearted city building stuff. But they picked an annoying place to put it. An annoying cliffhanger.
It's also flashback, because it's pre-human attack.

I didn't get bored watching this first ep, but who knows how it will be in the future. Perhaps if it keeps steadily adding characters from the big gallery, it can keep going. Just waiting for Milim can boost my interest.
At first I was like "Oh no, a recap episode." But it wasn't that.
I am curious if this is, like, filler, or if it's just stuff from the LN that was skipped over originally because it wasn't plot relevant.
Itcould beis one of the several spinoff mangas.
There's even one which is a straight-up spoiler for the entire novel published to date, but it is not this one.

Whenever a scene like that arrives, like the dryad, Trainee, complaining about why she wasn't invited for the gardening event, I'm reminded of the scene in the Lord of the Rings movies, where Merry and Pippin found plenty of tobacco leaves from Saruman's stash. They pondered if they should share some with Treebeard as well. They came to the conclusion not, because, for all they know, the tobacco plant might be Treebeard's distant relative.
I was thinking the same.
"We didn't invite cause we were planting plants we intend to cut down in 6 months."

Yeah, I don't think the ordinary slimes would be too jolly company for Rimuru in the long run. Literally brainless creatures.

So lethargic. Nothing interesting happened in the whole episode. Gobuta getting his ass kicked ten times doesn't really amuse me that much. I hope Milim will appear soon.
I mean, you shouldn't be disappointed, because those should be your expectations.
This season is based on a spinoff series of the books that just focuses on daily life in Jura. Nothing important is going to happen.

Finally Milim will appear in episode 7. It was a long wait. I hope her eps will be funny, at least.

It's weird this show trying to portray Clayman that way after what he's done in the main series...
For me, the Clayman scene came totally out of nowhere. I haven't got a clue about why this series had him appear at all. It seemed pretty counterproductive because I also thought he was portrayed strangely. None of the other character in the Jura Tempest city have been depicted as anything totally different from how they are in the main series. At least that I can immediately think of. I feel like Trainee is kind of goofy also in the main story, though maybe not quite as much as in Nikki, but still.

Poor Milim. Even a door has too many moving parts for her.
As expected, this episode felt less long than most of the others. Too bad Rimuru still didn't have enough life experience to tell Milim that it's better to have experienced life with friends, home, and other important things, even if you later lost them, than to not have ever possessed any of such things. Not that it would have really mattered since it seemed to be just sleep talk. Of course from the main series we do know why Milim was so melancholic and why she has tried to live a life of total independence (or non-dependence) and freedom ever since. I guess it'll be up to Rimuru to fix that weakness/cowardice in her character.

Yeah, these Milim eps are definitely better than the rest, so far. She brings just the right amount of chaos to stop these fillerish stories being utterly boring. That was actually the only thing I expected from them, but in fact I feel like there's a bonus I didn't think about beforehand: Watching these eps with Milim actually makes what's going on in the main series feel more meaningful what comes to Milim. She attacked a nation friendly to the Jura Tempest and seems to be working in cooperation with Jura Tempest's currently worst enemy, Clayman. When you watch these Nikki eps with her, you get a deeper sense of how much she must like Jura Tempest and Rimuru himself, yet she still ended up on the enemy side.

Getting reminded of the harpy demon lord while eating a chicken leg was the best joke of the episode. This episode wasn't nearly as boring as the previous one, which is a good thing. Rimuru surely is doing his best to have some kind of festival every single month of the year in Jura-Tempest. No wonder the human visitors keep wondering if it's really a monster town.

Things are rolling again. If you think about it, Rimuru has quite a lot of power behind him now. Diablo alone could be among the top 20 most powerful individuals (at least those that we know of and can guess about). He was a big deal before getting a name, so he should be even stronger now. It goes without saying Veldora should be among the top 10, being such a legend, as well as Rimuru himself. Falmuth and the western church needed to use pretty heavy indirect means to be able to defeat the Shion, Benimaru, and the others, so if you remove those means, how strong can they be? Of course we don't actually know the levels of power of many of the remaining demon lords. Clayman doesn't seem to be too strong personally, nor was Carrion, but Milim is a real powerhouse. We can naturally assume the first demon lord should be no joke, though I don't remember if we know anything much about him, possibly not even the name?
Veldora is quite an amusing dude. Flamboyant to the max.
"Hide my power level? Supersaiyaaaaaaaaaaaaan" xD
Those 50 soldiers are crazy. They were 100% going to die against an entire army but they marched anyway.
As for Shion's cooking, it makes things taste nice but nothing said it'd be nutritious. Thus, you'd still need high poison resistance to not die eating it - even if it tastes like bliss.
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
