Sora Yori mo Tooi Basho (A Place Further Than the Universe)

Our first step was always curiosity. For unseen sights, unheard sounds, unsmelled scents, untouched textures, untasted tastes, and unfelt excitement. We travel to find the bits and pieces that we’d forgotten at some point. Howling at 40 degrees, going mad at 50 degrees, screaming at 60 degrees, to the primordial lands beyond the great oceans, at the edge of the earth, far removed from human civilization. This is the story of four girls who travel to the Antarctic, further even than outer space.

A show about some cute girls doing... Antarctica. One thing that strikes me about this so far is that it very deliberately will not let itself be boring to watch. Every episode is peppered with either silly conversations, action scenes, or other-worldly sequences somewhere within as if just to prevent the audience from drifting off. That isn't to say the rest of the show is boring, though, as once I got used to the characters, I found them and their goals quite pleasant indeed. Recommended for those looking for some feel good slice of life without the Moe overdose.

Yup, been watching from first ep and if you can forget about the characters being teenage girls, you have to love the interactions/dialogues and humor.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

Interesting enough, this is done by Madhouse, who is also working on Overlord, but the character animation here has been way better (the chase scene in the city?).

The characters are fun and they've been approaching the expedition aspect of it in a reasonably realistic way. There's the idol, but she didn't want to go at all at first. Two of them are simply bored, and the last has a huge bankroll in her pocket and a (likely tragic) reason to go, that the leadership support, just not with teen girls going and being put in danger.

    Ep5

I like how they wrapped up glasses girl's story/hangup of wanting a useless 'sidekick'. It was a good scene and a clean break, since I was beginning to wonder her purpose in the show. On to Australia!
