Synopsis

People have been created that are human-animal hybrids, and powerful businesses bet on the outcome of their duels. College student Nomoto Yuuya's casual acquaintances ask him to drive them around to pick up girls one day, which he soon finds out means by force. The girl they kidnap is an animal-human hybrid named Hitomi, who slaughters all of them except Yuuya. Hitomi is a honey badger, which has been called the most fearless of all animals. Now Hitomi is assigned to stay with Yuuya, for his protection!

This is my guilty pleasure show of the season. Hitomi is so hot, and the ratel is my favorite animal.

I skimmed a bit of the first episode, it looked so trashy, but maybe with good violent action... I'll give it a try.

So far my guilty please has been Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, not sure how I feel about it yet, but it entertained me plenty.

I hope the fights have at least a little thought put into them so they can camouflage the villain of the week format, and I look forward to more crayon drawings of the animals accompanying earth-shattering revelations like "lions roar real loud". Its a ridiculous way to introduce fight powers/dynamics, and I hope they keep it up.

The first episode was quite amusing. This show doesn't try to pretend to be anything more than what it is.

The MC dude's role doesn't seem too enviable, even if he does catch occasional glimpses of something nice. That will probably be all, after all. In exchange for that he needs to fear for his life all day long.

Hitomi has now thrice delivered the one-liner about fangs, and for the first time she used her fangs. The claws seem more formidable so far, though. Her beast form doesn't exactly have the kind of fangs the lion dude possessed, for example.

At the end of the second episode, I was amazed that it wasn't 2 or 3 episodes. There were around seven story beats that could have been easily stretched out or padded. Good on Killing Bites for not messing around!

There's that one liner again. If that's the case:

1. Why do they do that long drawn out explanation of the 4 clans in the beginning of each episode? Why not just say: "Killing Bites, the battle where the one with the sharpest fangs wins"?

2. Why fight at all? Why not just do a test of who's teeth are sharper and call it a day?

3. Why did Shidoh choose a ratel instead of a goblin shark? Goblin sharks have even sharper teeth.

None of this makes any sense. Too many plot holes.

The rabbit was funny. Highly airheaded as well. If she indeed is faster than most other brutes, she could be put to proper use in a 3vs3 match. She could distract the opponents disastrously, provided the other two survive the initial clash against three opponents (assuming the opposing team does have three brutes actually capable of fighting).

Word has it that the simply the possession of the most weaponized mandibles may, in fact, hold a significant advantage in this competition... you could even say that it explains the meaning of the name "Killer Bites"... but this is the Destroyal?

I wish Leo didn't try to find meaning in her obvious posturing.

So... do the other pieces /beasts move around in real time, or do the players take actual turns while the fighting is going on? Did the hippo and rabbit have move signals, or is MC dude directing them?

Also, announcer chick is entirely too into the fights, and Zaibatsu grandaughter girl will likely be the first eliminated due to her haughtiness.

If you are beaten by a bloody gecko, you aren't a tough fighter at all. It's nothing but a lizard that can only hunt things a thousand or at least a hundred times smaller than its own size. She might have a firm grip, but otherwise gecko genes would only make the woman weaker, not stronger. Hitomi beat the big bear no sweat, but a gecko is wiping the floor with her? Right.

It would be cool if the MC dude could at least lie a bit and keep his cool to a reasonable degree. Why does he need to confess the reason he sent Hitomi to the other place? He could have simply said: "You'll see."

I had already totally forgotten, but fortunately this episode reminded me of the fundamental fact that the one with the sharper fangs wins, that's what killing bites is.

Why is the hippo so weak? In nature they should be tanks that fear nothing (except anthrax). Also, how come the pervert cobra became so gigantic? No other brute grows 10 times larger when they transform, but the cobra somehow grew to ridiculous proportions. Still, what's important is that pervert's death, so it's cool.

Poor Cobra Cannon though.

But yeah the whole transformations bit is just odd. That other chick did a full body transformation. If we follow that trend then Ratel, Cheetah and Rabbit/Bunny can all transform further to become stronger. Then again, fanservice....
