Boruto - Naruto The Movie

So, I read the last chapter of the Naruto manga since it's an epilogue that takes place after a considerable timeskip and I know the anime isn't going to cover that one chapter any time soon.

And since this movie takes place after that Epilogue, I decided I might as well go ahead and watch it.

Why don't any of Hinata's kids have the Byakugan?

They portray Boruto as really lazy...but he already knows 3 elemental styles?

Any holy shit is Boruto a little shit! I wish Sarada was the main character. She's way more interesting.

That said, I'm surprised Naruto is so neglectful. Considering how my he HATED growing up alone, I would have thought he'd have been a super doting parent.

I thought at first Mitsuki was somehow Kurama's kid. Like a neat reference to how the original concept of the show was that Naruto was going to be the Ninetail's son instead of just having him sealed inside him.

But the actual reveal was good too. "So...is he your father, or your mother?" Lol.

That said, I'm surprised Naruto is so neglectful. Considering how my he HATED growing up alone, I would have thought he'd have been a super doting parent.

If I remember correctly I think he could only use those styles with that assisted machine right?

And I agree, that's what I posted in the other thread. Honestly I think the writers did a bad job, and I hope that canon material for Boruto is much different. It simply doesn't make any sense that Naruto would be so neglectful and kind of a jerk, given how he grew up. And even AFTER getting all those complaints, to STILL send a shadow clone to his daughter's birthday? I've never seen any Hokage be too busy to make an important event like that. Doesn't make any sense.

Oh, another thing I wanted to mention was that the movie just seemed to unceremoniously kill off Bee. And possibly the 8-tails as well. I know the Tailed Beasts come back if they die, but they turned the 8-tails into berries and ATE him. And didn't show him being released after that guy died.

Well, he said it at the beginning of the movie, before they gave him the machine.

I think it's weird that he even gets all that wrapped up in paperwork in the first place. I realize that's a huge part of the Hokage's job, but everything about Naruto's character is that he takes things, and instead of doing them the way he's supposed to, does them his own way instead.

The fact that he's just falling into line in this role of paper-pushing Hokage doesn't mesh with his previous characterization at all. He would change what being Hokage was before he spent his life doing something he hated.

there's a thread in the manga section for the manga series about boruto

right now it's 6 relatively long chapters that covers the basically the same stuff in the movie. looks like it will need another couple chapters to catch up to the movie.

that said, naruto felt out of character, and the ninja tool boruto used really isn't much different than how tenten operated. it seems like cheating, but there aren't many rules on the battlefield in the first place

Too busy to ATTEND HIS DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY? No, that's b.s. and terrible writing. Naruto, who got stakes pinned in his f'ing arms to protect Hinata, wouldn't miss their daughter's birthday. And even if he had to, he wouldn't be so low as to try to send a shadow clone in its place.

Over the whole series, we got a good number of flashbacks from Naruto's childhood showing how lonely he was when every other kid was fetched by their parents, leaving Naruto alone. It's actually precisely because he didn't have a neglecting father role model that he shouldn't make such mistakes. If he had had a dad with 1001 excuses for being late, he might have ended up using the very same excuses himself, but that's not the case. His children do have a father, but he's purposefully making them feel like they don't have. Of all characters, Naruto should be the last one to do that. Thus, he was out of character and the writing was bad.

That's the point though. Naruto's dad wasn't around and Naruto fucking HATED his childhood. You would think he would go out of his way to make sure that didn't happen to his own kids.

I actually have no problem with that. From everything we've seen of Naruto's clones, they essentially ARE him, and everything they experience goes to into him when they vanish. Boruto being pissed cause it's a clone and not the original is just being a shitty stickler.

Speaking of which, I'm not sure why the clone at the party vanished. Naruto used to be able to maintain multiple sage fox clones over the distance of an entire war zone for most of a day. Not sure why he's not able to maintain a single normal clone across town at this point. He still has the fox, so it's not like he should have shitty chakra reserves.

If anything, he should have left the clone at the office. The clone randomly disappearing for no reason just adds to the shittiness of the writing
