Was a nice episode, even though Roswaal being forgiven is typical anime really. Irl he'd be locked up. Not that I care much, it just came to my mind.

I kept wondering if it's even socially accepted that the knight and the queen-candidate engage in romantic relationships, but apparently it's fine.

Best scene ofc: Emilia thinking she got pregnant from a kiss. Just literal wow. I'd love to see a follow up scene after someone educated her on how babies are made ;>

And I can't wait for a scene where the other knights meet Subarua again who's now an equal in rank, officially.

Season 3 Episode 1:

Three things I wanna say:

- I guess it's a good thing this was a triple-or even quadruple pilot epiosde, because ... not a whole lot happened for all that runtime. I couldn't imagine having to wait 3-4 weeks to get the point where this episode ended.

- the designs for new characters, especially girls, keep getting worse. The songstress is probably the ugliest, most questionable design since the demon loli from Mushoku Tensei. No curves, flat beyond flat, and yet showing so much skin. Is the author a known pedophile like the one of Made in Abyss? Because I'd believe it.

- I'm annoyed that Subaru didn't INSTANTLY call for Reinhardt when the new bishop said she's an arc bishop. Subaru had NO reason to assume it was a joke. And while he might have not been able to call Reinhardt himself, he was standing next to Dumber who is established to be able to call Reinhardt within 5 seconds from anywhere in town.

One more note: I feel like the artwork isn't as pretty as the previous two seasons, but maybe I'm wrong. And as much as I appreciate boobs, Emilia's boobs look weird, like they're bigger AND she's wearing dresses that really push them out. Feels out of character for her.

Reinhard's dad being scum is a fun surprise, but I feel like the whole reconciliation arc between Reinhard and Wilhelm is something stupid that could be solved with one simple talk. Not a fan of such contrieved "honor and pride"-based problems.

Anyway, the ending was okay. But I was annoyed by how easily Subaru got into her trap.

Anyway, I'll spare everyone and myself a long winded rant about Subaru being absolute shit at going about this fight. CLEARLY, he has enough time to warn them about what's about to happen, so why not do that with Reinhard? But .. whatever.

However, one big bs must be mentioned: Emilia's fighting prowess got a CRAZY upgrade if she's holding up against Sirius similiarly to Reinhard before. Reinhard, however, looked awefully weak. Not sure if that was intentional and we'll learn that the distress with his grandfather and father's situation weakens him or something.

Also: Sirius is Emilia's mom that we saw in the season 2-flashbacks, right? Silver hair, violet iris, and loves Beetlegeuse, taking his last name even. I don't know any light novels or whatever, but that's my theory for now.

Anyway. I would hope Subaru does another attempt, this time telling Beako to keep watch of the surroundings for when Regulus comes, while telling Reinhard to not kill Sirius, but catch her and make her immovable. However, I fear that there will be a new checkpoint now right after Regulus kidnaps Emilia.

PS: Oh, and one final note: If an anime had Sirius' and Lusbel's genders reversed, there'd be a huge outrage.

Reinhardt wasn't weak. Emilia was just strangely competent at melee combat here. Sirius was probably more straight forward with Emilia in this fight aside from pulling the hostage card.

I was pleased that they pulled the Reinhardt card early but then realised he wasn't the answer. Interesting that he nerfs all mana users around him.

Eh, Reinhard still COULD be the solution here, Subaru would just have to inform him about Sirius' ability. Then Reinhard could catch her/bind her/knock her unconscious and things could proceed from there. Meanwhile Betty could be on alert for Regulus at the edge of the plaza where Reinhard doesn't impact her magic.

From a gamer pov, Subaru could keep trying lots of things. But the author didn't want to show us 20-30 repititions and it's clear he wanted a certain outcome which is: Emilia gets kidnapped.

Btw I was surprised about the time skip of several months. Subaru doing a training parcour is nice and all, but, ya know, Rem is waiting, lol. Feels like they've been doing nothing to investigate and were lucky that the other royal candidate invited them with a hint at another Arc Bishop.

Based on Subaru's reaction to info about Gluttony, he, at the very least, was trying his best, but with no info, what can he do? He is clearly desperate.

I do agree that Reinhard is the easy way out here. Just tell Emilia to go to Reinhard with the information because she runs faster and Reinhard will take it from there. Somehow, he is immune to this soul reaching ability.

My main complaint here is how people are randomly fine at random times from this ability with no consistent pattern so far.

From memory she used it every single time with good effect except for the final run where she was so enraged with Emilia that she didn't use it. Reinhardt is immune to it, and seems to snap others out of it if he touches them.

Not exactly. There are times when Subaru was fine and then got caught, while other times he was immediately caught. What is the difference?

Also, if Reinhardt is immune because of mana suction and can snap Subaru out of it just by touching him, why did all of them die when Reinhard killed the wrath girl? Reinhardt distanced himself from Subaru after snapping him out, but Subaru kept his wits. That means his mana disruption works even at a distance. But that was clearly not the case when everyone, including Subaru, got cut in half at the end. Rachin also got caught earlier than Subaru despite receiving the same touch from Reinhardt. It is just inconsistent.

I would say that Reinhardt's mana-disrupting ability doesn't explain his own immunity against the hypnosis, and also isn't the basis for why he snaps others out of it by touching. It's something else.

But yeah, I'll agree that there's not enough information for us to make sense of everything and the timing as it stands is inconsistent. To me, most hypnosis stuff comes down to willpower, which gets written into the "whatever goes" power scaling.

This is very possible as well. Based on loli's explanation, this makes the most sense. Otherwise, Al Shamak should have worked because it separates the target from the world itself, like the rabbits. The wrath hypnosis isn't a mana spell but like an innate ability that transcends the world's rules.
