That's because you have to admit, the first episode wasn't funny. However episodes 2 and 4 I laughed out loud more than an average episode of family guy, which is an accomplishment.
Eh? I found all the episodes to be funny. Even if I didn't, I understand the logic behind the humor. You don't have to personally like the comedy style to understand that joke behind it.

Yeah, I don't get how the gender was supposed to be ambiguous. They did a punched-in-the-balls joke in the character's first appearance.
A punch in the clit hurts as well, just in case this wasn't known. However, the presence of a sac (may not have been shown in the manga) is highly, highly suggestive of male genitalia. He does have some girlish traits and mannerisms though.

But it is still very obviously a dude (to most of us), which makes Arch the Trap Lover's confused attraction to him even funnier.

I feel like Speed of Sound Sonic's battle was better animated in the manga.
It was way more than good enough in the anime, I think.

Yeah, but it just means all the storyboarding was already done for Madhouse. Saves them some time/funding they can use elsewhere in the production.
Not really sure why you think this. There's only, like, 80 chapters. And the 2nd episode covered, like, 5 chapters.
If this makes it to 26 episodes without resorting to filler, I'll be surprised.
