Aren't the rampaging black monsters enough to explain that they don't and never will stand a chance? They're attitude is fairly typical of "Never give up no matter what!" "I'll get stronger and defeat you." found all over the genre.

Unfortunately for them, this series is a subversion and Ainz is the protagonist. But they don't know that. So they're still never going to give up.

He wouldn't have betrayed the King or Kingdom if he attached the condition of letting the soldiers flee. He would've sacrificed his pretty pride for the lives of his people, which is quite honorable.

Then why did he bother to do the Momon act? He could've just slaughtered the kid and all humans in E Rantel. He is clearly trying to rule over them, not just commit genocide or oppress them like they think he would. I don't agree with him doing that (he is OP so just kill em all), but that's another issue.

Also, I watch anime because not all of it is nonsensical. Just because I find something boring doesn't mean I'll just ignore nonsensical things. Those two are totally unrelated, except maybe the fact that their reaction is so cliche and predictable that it is also boring.

My suggestion is to just ignore what I post if you think I'm nitpicking, because I probably am. You'll avoid a lot of stress that way.

You know, if any of you just said Ainz is doing all this nonsensical meandering because he enjoys it and finds it entertaining, I would've agreed. He did mention he wanted to check how his spell would work before the massacre. He likes to attach random rationales behind his actions, especially for the benefit of his image, but that's what it all boils down to. Why not take the easy route? Because the harder route is more fun.

That being said. He doesn't care about his monsters either.

I don't actually know where he draws the line. Are his death knights expendable? But he got pretty pissed when he thought spider girl was killed. Which are the ones he actually cares for and why?

He protects those he has promised to protect or who have come under his rule one way or another. Like Sebas' waifu, whatever was her name. The village was not really under his rule, at least until now. It was still a part of the kingdom. Since his emotions are kind of limited, I suppose he didn't feel much about it one way or another, so he only wanted to make sure the potion boy didn't perish (or those whose deaths would render him as good as dead). I reckon things are now different with the village a part of his Sorcerous Kingdom. Anyone threatening the village would be insulting Nazarick.

You respect puppies even less by allowing them to suffer longer before killing them. And still even less if you give them false hope before ending them. Ainz did tell Gazef the sword could theoretically hurt him, but Gazed of all people present wouldn't be stupid enough to think it mattered at all.

2) Don't bother with all the duel shit and just kill him.

I really think Ainz just wanted to entertain himself by doing all that ceremonial stuff. He even called it PVP, which is essentially a game.

I would guess that the NPCs created by his old guildmates are the most important thing to him.

The generic summoned death knights probably not so much.

I'm pretty sure any NPC with a name was probably created by one of the players.

Edit: No wait, those goblins have individual names and they were clearly generic summons. Unless Enri named them.

So pretty sure they are created by one of the supreme beings.

I think the most interesting things about the maids is the fact that we haven't seen their "unit"-leader yet.
The bowser-arm maid is only the second in command.

He respected Gazef and thus he accepted the challenge given as a knight and received as a PvP duel. It would have been scumbaggish to ignore it. Ainz isn't really a scumbag, ruthless as he might be. Demiurge is the real villainous one with no moral code whatsoever, fittingly for a demon. It's true he might have pushed more for acquiring Gazef as an underling, but in the end he was refused quite strongly, so what good would Gazed have been in that role?

I'm 90% sure they are specially crafted as well by the players. At least I've no recollection saying they wouldn't have been. The size of the guild (and how much they pay to win) basically defined how many NPCs the base could maintain and how many of them could be of what level, as well as how much text they could contain (which would translate into a wholesome personality when they became alive). The place actually has plenty of such NPCs, the story just mainly concentrates on the guardians and the battle maids, but we did see some additional ones during the invasion arc, for example. Nazarick had lots of active players at its height and they apparently weren't shy on using real money, so it's a remarkable place.
