Not really, considering they spent an entire episode explaining that opponents from different universes use different kinds of energy that Goku and friends cannot sense. They also spent a lot of time talking about special abilities. There were a lot of options to make ths interesting despite the existing power levels, but instead they threw their hands up in the air and did whatever.

You can get around that with neat special abilities that don't rely purely on power.
But when Roshi's punches are able to drive back a character that's almost as strong as Freiza...that's a bit ridiculous.

I don't think he started dicking around until after he saw the Mafuba and thought up the idea to use it on Vegeta. Before that, there's no real reason for him to let Roshi knock him around.

No, because the thing that almost killed him was using the Mafuba again, not getting shot by Frost.
I'm pretty sure Frost was about to kill him before Vegeta intervened.

I disagree. Immediately after the Mafuba failed the first time there was that shot of Frost looking over his shoulder at Vegeta. From that moment on, I think everything Frost did, luring Vegeta into the fight, holding him off with Magetta, goading Roshi into using the Mafuba on him again, was all so he could turn the Mafuba around on Vegeta.

Good stuff. Though frankly, I don't know what the point of the deception was. Freeza is so much stronger than Frost, there's no reason he couldn't have just overpowered him right from the start.
I feel like them explaining Freeza's probable goal this early on ensures that either it won't happen, or that's not even his plan.

Also, Freezer is my favorite DBS character. And yes, I also don't quite get the need for deceiving Frost.

On the one hand, I wouldn't want Freeza to become the new Zeno, on the other, I could totally get behind him becoming a God of Destruction.
Freezer enjoys tricking/deceiving people . Efficiency isn’t his objective.

Particularly if it's against someone who loves tricking as well. A showdown between tricksters is right up Freiza's alley.
Freiza's right about fucking everyone up decisively early on. He should just go around cleaning out trash, then we can all watch the real tournament when they actually try.
