xenoverse goes as far as GT for their characters, with the reason behind is that trunks is a time traveler cop and the villians go around the timeline disrupting things, the main character (you) is a new time cop and goes on missions to fix things.
on the other hand heroes goes beyond the anime with transformation that never happened (for example a fusion between future trunks with current gohan) just for the lolz
