With the space program attempting to travel to Mars, 21st century scientists were tasked with warming up the planet so that humans could survive on its surface. They came up with an efficient and cost-effective plan of sending cockroaches and mold to the surface so that the mold would absorb the sunlight and the insect corpses would serve as a food source for the mold.

It is now the year 2577 and the first manned ship to Mars has landed on the planet and the six crew members are ready for their mission. But what they find are giant mutated humanoid cockroaches with incredible physical strength. The crew members are easily wiped out, but not before sending a transmission back to Earth. Now, humanity will send elite warriors to exterminate the mutated bugs and claim back Mars.

man, i dont know what to think about this anime. the plot is ridiculous, the enemy design looks so bad and cartoony and funny. But i like the quick pace things are going at, and these cockroaches are really merciless. now my one fear is that the human characters will become too strong once they inject this medicine, so it´ll be interesting to see if it´s a balanced power up, or one that ruins all tension.

I cringed at the fact that they kept the medicine all the way in the storage room. This is persona safety stuff - keeping it on you is the best way to go.

The bugs look like cockroach humans with gorilla faces.

I actually like the bug design. Reminds of of the uncanny valley design of SnK.

I completely agree about the meds. Why would you keep something so valuable in one place and with so little security?

If it's a test, then there's a pretty great risk to it. It sounds like the crew are near useless without their medicine, and the roaches are currently destroying it. At the very least, this test doesn't have adequate damage control.

I dont get it. I thought they created super-human soldiers because these cockroaches were so strong. But apparentely they can be killed by machine-induced force, too. They couldn´t even break the walls and windows of the spaceship. So ... why not send some military space ships there?

Other than that, an enjoyable episode.

Oh, and are they doing the censoring on purpose, to hype up the series? "Hey, look, our anime is soooo gruesome, check it out!" ?
Because nothing of the implied violence so far is any worse than what we´ve seen in, for example, Attack on Titan.

I cant help it but feel that this is some kind of rip-off of attack on titan. The way they try to make the show feel gruesome and crude, the feeling of fighting and impossible fight, how they get completely overruned and the "elites" fall as flies etc.

I guess that they will try to deviate from that rip-off feeling when medicine starts spreading turning them into bug killing machines that can fight hundreds of them but for a limited time and with great after effects, low reserves, "special" terraformars that kill medicine powered up guys bla bla bla.

Im also another one that doesnt understand all this censoring. Trying to boost up uncensored dvd sales? Im no marketing expert but sounds stupid to me.

The ants aren't as scary anymore now that they're the only ones that die. Thankfully that means no more censoring as well.

I don't get the adultery though. Her apparent loneliness came out of nowhere. They never hinted whether he was still busy all the time with military experiments or anything until right at the end.

Short answer: No, new eps aren't uncencored.

Elaboration: The newer eps feature more roaches being ripped apart than humans, so there isn't actually much censoring to speak of in the first place. I can't guarantee it to be zero though. Someone might have lost a limb here or there that warranted 2 seconds of black.

She was a bitch, but at the same time the impact is offset by how random that aspect is. She was never portrayed as a player or an open sort of girl right up until they decided to make her adulterous. It's as frustrating as it is confusing. If he makes it out of this, he's got Eva at least.

It was a match up mistake. The number 2 most powerful earthling should have faced the elite roach. The somewhat useful girl should have kept the fodder busy during that time. Then both of them could have fought against the horde.

This show makes up random power levels, but at least it's fun to watch.

I wonder if he killed his adulterous wife. I know I would have. I really liked his complaint about the whole affair. "Why did you do something so animalistic?" Because humans are animals.

All of those other people on his team should have at least have had a useful ability. Maybe they were meant for recon or stuff like that but not all of them. That'd be just plain stupid. They should all have the strength to kill the roaches. I think that's what's said in one of the earlier episodes.
