Caught up with Underwater subs.
I'm slowly getting back into this. Lacked some suspens and action compared to S1, but since we get acustomed to their universe, a shift is needed. That shift includes some goa'uld like mind/body control for Kunato and I do not think this is such a good idea. Kunato had the potential to be like that without that cheap SF overused trick.
Changing Hoshijiro so much is a bit of a shock. We had a build up with what she looked like. Changing her to that massive faceless Gauna is a hard shift. I still giggled a little at the tentacle groping scene. Its giggles scene was amusing too.
As for Tanikaze, he has a very flexible way of thinking, he can accept facts for what they are. When he saw a Gauna attack another, he was quick to understand he did not need to antagonize it immediately. His broad thinking probably is a bonus most of the time, but could also be the reason of his downfall when he fights a more cunning enemy.

The death of the shadow concil is a good thing, honestly that part of the story probably was the weakest and most boring one.
