No idea how. I've started reading it last week, really good manga. has the same feel as claymore, but moving forward and getting plot done.
Why the hell is Eren always so damn weak? He hardly gets to fight, and when he does, he loses. If Mikasa were a titan, she would have ripped Annie, Reiner, Bertholdt, and Ymir apart by now.
Peace.
Maybe it's because all of his opponents have been titans longer than he has.
He also recently learned to control his titan skills, remember. Let's also not forget that he doesn't have any specialized passive or active skills that other titan shifters have like Annie's selective regeneration, Reiner's armour, Bertholdt's tallness, and Ymir's swiftness. There's room for more growth.
Yeah, but it is already a bit too late for that. He needs to fight and win in the current scenario to at least redeem all of his failures as a protagonist. That one scene where he went berserk during his first transformation just isn't cutting it anymore.
Peace.
He might very well gain something by eating another Titan shifter. I mean that is how Ymir became human since she was an actual Titan before this and she ate a shifter. At least I think that's what she meant.
do the rest of the titan-shifters have an ability to do partial transformations (single body parts)?
From what I recall, Ymir "stole" powers from one of the Annie-Reiner-Bertholdt trio's people. Whether that individual she stole powers from and how she did it is unknown to me.
No so far. But then again, it would have been really disadvantageous for them to partially transform anywhere in the story without revealing their identities.

Things go down in a very real way in this chapter. Lots of movement and crazy action scenes (Reiner THROWING TITANS LIKE JAVELINS).
Surprises all around!
I definitely wonder if the titans can mutate or transform after a given time... it'd certainly be interesting if they do. Otherwise, the titan that ate Eren's mother isn't bringing any more excitement to the story.
If there is a time for a protagonist to start transforming and showing his worth, it is this.
Erwin should be dead by now due to blood loss. They should have just mangled his arm, not cut if off completely.
Peace.
"he's hurling titans at us!"
mad me remember this
sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.
You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.
Armin will turn into Erwin and Mikasa will turn into Levi if there will be a time skip.
Erwin seemed a little too eager to see Eren after the revelation that the titans could be humans. Perhaps he wishes to gain these powers himself now, or perhaps the fact he was fighting people all along messed him up somehow.
I hope Eren doesn't do something stupid now that he is having flashbacks about Levi's old squad.
I think it was mainly the cutting up former humans part that messed with him.
Speedscan:
Shingeki no Kyojin 53 [Batoto]
Well It's interesting to know that Eren can't create that crystal like substance and looses control/intelligence if he transforms more than once in succession.
I'm surprised at how incredibly political this manga turned. I mean fascism/autocracy/democracy colliding with each other was always the subtext but now it's just, well, text.
EDIT:
Also we're now getting into the foreshadowing of... the chapter title of chapter 1, which was otherwise a weirdly translated non-sequitur.
EDIT EDIT:
The stuff being discussed in the current chapter, and the power of the "coordinate" in general, make me very, very suspicious of flashbacks in this series now. There's no guarantee that, for example, Eren's childhood is entirely real and not just a backstory generated by memory alteration.
