Batou beat Motoko in a melee!?!
WTF.
Then the anime gods helped her out with a wounded Paz shot.
Poor Batou.
I really liked how buffed and useful Batou was in this.

Peace.
I like that too. It gives Batou some sort of edge against Motoko. The last come of times I remember them fighting, Motoko always won via eye-hacking I think. It also shows a little weakness in Motoko's character since she's supposedly young here.
I'm not sure that I like Saito's change though. His poker face thing was so cool in SAC2.

I liked the first movie more. Although this one had good action and it was nice to see most of the old gang again, the plot felt kind of lackluster. This would have worked better as episodes of a regular weekly show, but it's kind of pity to wait for a movie about traffic congestion for half a year. Because that's honestly what this movie seemed mainly to be about. The setting didn't really make much sense, either. As if blocking somebody's net access could ever be that hard. I also don't quite remember from the earlier GitS shows the traffic to be under such a strict control either.
I hope the next movie will be better again.
Actually about the traffic. Its something thats recurrent.
First movie, Gits series, ...
Theres going to be a single phrase about " Motoko you shouldnt dive and drive. " or " Send a virus to slow traffic down so we can catch up. "
Its completly forgetable and is a sucky theme compared to organ trafficking in SAC, memory manipulaiton, forced child labor ...
I hope that the next movie will suck a lot less just like Kraco.
I love how they seem to have no compunctions about mowing down characters, but the ones that end up joining the team just seemed to be spared completely arbitrarily.
With Batou it makes some sense because she knows him sorta.
But then you have a character like Borma. Who, like, EVERYONE around Borma gets slaughtered, and there's really no rhyme or reason to why he gets spared when everyone else gets blown up and gunned down.
DOES that make sense for someone that's never been human? What is her "youth" other than they kept her in a smaller body for awhile.
Same. That episode is pretty much my favorite thing in GitS ever. And the fact that he doesn't even seem like the same character in this is a letdown.

Yep, naive and exploitable Motoko is fun to watch indeed. You know she can be tricked much more easily.
I would have guessed that the evil Colonel was the one that Motoko knew, but I can't remember if she was in the normal SAC series as a good person.

It was kind of a strange feeling to watch this episode with Motoko seemingly the least competent of the whole bunch under these circumstances. But I suppose it's plausible experiences such as this are what made the older Motoko we know better.
Togusa was lucky he didn't die with his natural body getting hit like that by a cyborg.

Well, just watched the first two episodes and quite enjoyed it. I liked the first one a lot more though. That said, I quite miss the soundtrack from the tv series.
I'm still confused about where this series is taking place. Anidb lists it as an alternate version from Stand Alone Complex, taking place rather in the continuity of the original movies. But I see a lot of you mentioning that the seems to be set within the Stand Alone Complex sequence in some manner.
Though if mix the two suggestions, can we say this takes place in the original continuity but borrowing ideas (and characters) from Stand Alone Complex?
Probably. I gave up on the continuity thing and just decided this was pre-Sect9. Saito and Togusa had different origins than SAC, that's for sure. Possibly Batou as well.
