It will probably be fun. Johnny Depp seems to be playing the same role in every movie for the past decade though.
Yeah hopefully the trailer is a good indicator of the character he plays as Tanto. It has a bit of the Jack Sparrow vibe, but more fitting of the source character. Also, I like Armie Hammer, even though he played the dbags in The Social Network.

Given its comedic undertone, I could see them incorporating the original theme song into the new movie without it seeming out of place or corny. I remember the thrill of the audience cheering when the James Bond action theme played in Goldeneye:

Uuuuh!!!! Seems like an awesome movie. Cant wait. Johnny Deep = Elite Actor.

I hope it's more than the typical Hollywood "modernized Western" like Wild Wild West, Cowboys and Aliens, etc.
