Horrible Subs - Episode 1

Couldn´t find a good description. Anyway, thought this deserves its own thread. Apparently this is the spinoff-series of some other anime.

Since I randomly downloaded several first episodes of new shows of the spring season, this one caught my eye. My biggest gripe is shown during the first 10 seconds: The main character, Hyoubo, is as overpowered as you can be. Only way to make him stronger would be some sort of auto-defense mode that allows him to sleep without worries. In his awake-state, it looks like nothing could ever even scratch him.

Despite this, I liked the retro-feeling artstyle, as well as the fluid animations during battles. No idea where the plot is going, BUT: The first episode ends with a very intriguing twist regarding one of the other characters.

So, anyone else watching this? Thoughts?

If memory serves, he's the main villain of the original show, Zettai Karen Children. I watched most of it back in the day, but I think I dropped it at some point towards the end. That would explain why he might be looking overpowered.

Anyway, I doubt I will watch this one. I only stopped to comment on your gripe.

Do i need to watch the stupid mahou shoujo original to get this?

Somewhat. There are details being referenced, but none are critical in the story so far. Hyoubu is bad ass in any case, so if you like that sort of stuff you can skip the powerpuff prequel.

This show is turning out much better than expected. The esper battles are pretty good.
