If I understand that correctly, did SAO really sell that much? Second season in the works? :P

I don't think I understand what I'm reading here: Shinsekai has sold nothing in 2012? Or is it simply that there was no data available for them to rank it?
"You are not free whose liberty is won by the rigour of other, more righteous souls. Your are merely protected. Your freedom is parasitic, you suck the honourable man dry and offer nothing in return. You who have enjoyed freedom, who have done nothing to earn it, your time has come. This time you will stand alone and fight for yourselves. Now you will pay for your freedom in the currency of honest toil and human blood."

I'm glad to see JoJo and Chuuni up there, but Japan must be full of shiteaters for Shin Sekai to be doing so fucking poorly.

Shinsekai and Zetsuen... I cannot believe it.
Actually I do. It is something that one should expect from the country that created K-ON, and much worse, its descendents.
I bet the only reason Psycho Pass is there is because of the hype due to Urobuchi's involvement.
I have no idea why K is doing so well. Which demographic is buying it?

Peace.
Even Code Breaker is doing better, even if not by much. I couldn't keep watching the anime of Code Breaker either. I dropped the manga because it was so immature in all the wrong ways. It was the same with the anime adaptation, after all. So, I'm not unhappy to see it sell humbly. It's really too bad about Shinsekai. I suppose it's too complicated for the usual audience that's mainly interested in moe and single-minded shounen action. I really wish Girls und Panzer wasn't leading the flock, though. It's good something is selling well bringing money to the studios, but the cash cow being a show like that is sad.
Girls and Panzer isn't as horrid as it seems, but yeah, definitely not 1st place.
Peace.
It's okay though, really. It isn't like we're getting an incomplete story with Shinsekai Yori. It's only one book.
We don't have to hopelessly wait for a sequel.
Though it is a depressing reflection of Japan. While we might get fewer "smart" series, replaced by even more paint-by-numbers eroge adaptations, 4-koma moeblob fests, and a stream of mediocre light novels, but some series like this achieve cult status later. Then we get another one, and the cycle continues.
K-ON in and of itself wasn't bad. It's the idea that studious should then make copies of it for every season that gave it a bad name.Originally Posted by Shinta

Does box-art and displayability have a big factor in sales? I wouldn't know how many Japanese watchers know how to access their shows online, but they would have watched the show once already on TV regardless. At the same time, I can't imagine that a feverish anime fan would have too much time to rewatch the series he buys when new ones keep pouring out.
If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~
I´ve never watched K-ON, and yet I hate it. :/
Also, wtf @#1. Why, Japan, why?!
Jojo defending the country´s honor all by itself.
The world would be a better place if people managed to do that with things other than watching anime.
Peace.
For once, those ratings makes some kind of change when you think about the core demographic
Does anyone have an idea why K is selling well? I have no idea who are the main people buying it.
Peace.
I didn't think that Fujoshi were so rampant, but you're right.
Peace.
Fujoshi like Jojo? I thought they wanted bishounens, not GAR.
Peace.
