Maybe they're getting tired of the whole herbivore male thing.

I'm actually surprised Shinsekai made the chart.

It's the kind of anime that appeal to a very small demographic and the first half of the show is decent at best, it didn't start getting good until the later part.

Psycho-pass did great, so i'm hoping for more futuristic/cyberpunk stuff.

I didn't think there was anyone who still care about Hayate no Gotoku since the anime is so inconsistent, but i guess once something get popular it'll keep selling.

No shit. Only moeblob, loli, and harem seem to do well. The fact something like "Love Live" dominates the sales tells something about the Japanese otakus' brainless idol worshipping ways.

I´m not that knowledgeable about actual current day Japanese culture, so: Is this really otakus buying that shit, or is it simply due to masses of children/little girls buying that crap? Similar to how Skylanders is doing well in the west, but no actual videogame nerd is buying these games.

    I mean ... come on. :/

Check the prices of Japanese anime DVDs/BDs. They are so bloody expensive few kids would have the money. It's the otaku. The business made a long time ago a decision to rip lots of money off a limited audience rather than trying to appeal to a wider audience with lower prices (like they/local licensees tried in the West).

I guess live idol stuff is a bit different, though, since it seems to have a much bigger audience. But even so it has otaku who buy a hundred copies of the same CD to get a handshaking ticket... Maybe some of those fools also buy animated idol stuff.

    Zettai Karen Children is surprising.
Amnesia too, watched it. The end was crap, but it was somewhat interresting.
Fluffy everyday life Tamako is quite well.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

Tamako is the KyoAni show of the season. That alone grants a big chunk of sales.

Either all the fujoshis are flocking to Kuroko Basket or it's actually good. Maybe both, but I think I'll still leave it off my list until I watch Slam Dunk. I'll keep it in mind anyway.

Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita got a sad result. I hope producers still come up with smart anime regardless though.

    If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~

Was Girls und Panzer actually better than it looked like it was? Most of the others seem to at least make sense, through their various fetish appeals. I'm not sure what Girls und Panzer is supposed to be to rank that high. Moe? Military fanciers? Both? Was it actually entertaining?

    Also:
    - Yay at Mouretsu Pirates making the ranks! Vastly under-appreciated space opera series around these parts.
    - Horizon!

    @Buff: It is 99.995% fujoshis.

I cannot believe Nise outsold everything by that much. Fate/Zero at 2nd makes me lose my faith in humanity. Just kidding, never had that.

@Ryll - the tank battles, particularly in the last few episodes of Panzer, were actually good.

Nobody expected it to sell like it did, sometimes they just randomly hit that moe sweet spot Japan loves and stuff sells like this.

Let's hope that will teach KyoAni not to try again.

Although I guess it's only not selling in terms of KyoAni productions. It will still sell more than many other shows.
