Well for you who are mad about Sakamoto having time to somehow escape that explosion is explained in this episode.

However, I can't even defend what happens at the end here. I don't know how he'll have escaped this one. It's also pissing me off how dumb Sakamoto STILL is. His whole trust speech he was giving to Himiko was annoying. He deserves to die for being so dumb.

Shit, at least trust your girlfriend. If she tells you to ditch the trunk, do it without question. Not a "Huh?!" forcing her to repeat herself. Warning him is going to tip the asshole doctor off, who will trigger it immediately. He should only get one chance to toss the trunk away.

Okay, I've got this. Here is what should happen:

Himiko, stunned by her lost love Sakamoto's naive death, stands motionless, unable to carry on with the thought that she had lied to him and never told him who she really was. Date, noticing that she's vulnerable, stalks up to Himiko, casually places a bomb at her feet, chucking at his own brilliance.

It's at that moment that Murasaki reappears and pulls Himiko to safety. She snatches up Sakamoto's lost BIMs, and thanks to the benefit of not having a chip, she can use them. After a harrowing battle, Murasaki defeats Date by slitting his throat with her kama.

Now back in the game, hence the title, "Resurrection," Murasaki goes on to defeat many more opponents with Himiko at her side. She treats Taira during the night, slowly bringing him back to relative health. After defeating Oda and Deko-chan with Himiko's help and a revived Taira as their secret weapon (using the remote BIMs to devastating effect), the three of them hijack the helicopter and return to civilization, bringing down the game company with testimony of their barbaric blood sport.

Murasaki returns to the hospital, eventually working her way up to director, having been exonerated after her supposed death and Date's continued malpractice.

Meanwhile, Himiko returns to Japan and stays in touch with Murasaki, her new role model thanks to the ingenuity and heroism she displayed on the island. Himiko enters a nursing university with Murasaki's recommendation and eventually becomes a Registered Nurse at the hospital. She is praised for saving many lives from operating room errors made by surgeons. Thanks to her and Murasaki's efforts, the hospital turns around and becomes a leader by example to the Japanese health care community. Himiko's beauty (and fiery insistence that she is actually native-born Japanese) makes her very popular among the staff and patients.

While on rotation in the Substance Abuse Ward, Himiko stumbles across her old friend Miho.

Miho, who had been shocked by Himiko's actual disappearance, fell off the deep end. She ended up hanging around the wrong crowds to get past her guilt, wallowing in a world of drugs and sex. She was eventually lured into working at a soapland, and took the remainder of her settlement money from the sexual assault lawsuit and got breast implants on the suggestion of her boss. This led her into a "successful" career in the JAV world, fueling her drug addictions. After overdosing and being left to die, Miho was saved by drunk salaryman and delivered to the hospital.

Seeing Himiko become successful, Miho breaks down in tears as admits that the moment she knew Himiko was kidnapped, that she realized she and the other two had done something terrible to their only true friend. Himiko forgives Miho and the series fades to black.

Too bad we all know it won't happen. Sakamoto will miraculously survive and reappear just after or right before Murasaki ultimately suicides to kill Date.

It's as you say. If Sakamoto had used those attacks against some other character as dumb as he acted, they would have been killed. I thought the whole depth perception thing was clever, but this week's escape would be completely BS as far as I can tell. The way Sakamoto almost overthinks his Btooom opponents while being entirely trusting just doesn't mesh. You simply can't have a player who is both good at a game of deception/prediction and so naive.

I could dissect literally EVERY scene of this episode and explain WHY it is shit.

Instead I´m going to say: I´m just following this anime now to see where it goes, how it ends. But suspense is dead. Really dead, not like "dead" people in BTOOOM.

So, did the producers decide midway through to change this from an action/mystery series to a cocktease blue balls hentai-anime? And now they end it with a cliffhanger?! I´d be extremely surprised if this ever gets a second season.

I'm not sure that I want another season of this. Now that Ryouta's officially soft and everything, how's he going to blow people up with those awesome btooom skills of his?

Or is the entire island going to band together and end up fighting an incoming "Corporate League" or some other shit?

Btoom had low torque when it came to plot direction but now it's just being material for spinoff doujin.

Finished this up. Enjoyed some aspects of it, but at the end it got quite boring and ridiculous, even when accepting the over-the-top nature it had from the very beginning. I'm more disappointed in how the main character turned out.
